Understanding Your Child's Score

AP Exam scores are reported on a 5-point scale as follows:

5 Extremely well qualified
4 Well qualified
3 Qualified
2 Possibly qualified
1 No recommendation

Students earning and AP Exam score of 3 or above are generally considered to be qualified to receive college credit. However, the awarding of credit and placement is determined by each college or university.

AP tests allow a student to earn college credit, move into upper-level college courses, pursue a double major and design an individual college experience.

AP tests are given in May.

The Advanced Placement Tests allow high school students to earn college credit. Upon completion of an AP class students are encouraged to take the AP test to earn credit.
