James, Jacksonville tame Lions

4 hours ago Jacob James went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two stolen bases to lead Jacksonville to a 4-1 Central State Eight Conference win over Lanphier at Robin Roberts Stadium. Adam Hillis, who was also on the mound for the win, was 2-for-2 with an RBI. He tossed four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out six. Pierce, Senators shut out Railers

4 hours ago Damian Pierce struck out 10 batters, walked two and allowed two hits in Springfield High's 12-0 win against Lincoln in a Central State Eight Conference game. Pierce was also 2-for-3 with a double and had two RBIs. Jimmy Hollahan and Will Reiser banged out three hits apiece for the Senators (3-0 overall, 2-0 in CS8). Hollahan drove in three runs. Plains' Painter fires one-hitter

4 hours ago Pleasant Plains' T.J. Painter threw a complete-game one-hitter to lead Pleasant Plains to a 2-0 victory over East Peoria in a game played at Rent One Park. Painter, who struck out eight and walked one, was two outs away from a no-hitter before giving up a double in the seventh inning. 4 hours ago Faith Day finished 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs to lift Rochester past Southeast 12-2 in five innings Wednesday in a Central State Eight Conference game. Aubrey Magro and Nicole Robinson had three hits apiece for Rochester, which finished with 14 hits. Katie Nika (2-for-3) drove in three runs for the Rockets (4-0 overall, 2-0 in the CS8). Gant, Spartans beat Rockets

Yesterday Makai Gant's bases-loaded single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Jake Read and host Southeast pulled out a 2-1 win against Rochester in a Central State Eight Conference game Tuesday. Gant was also the winning pitcher in the Spartans' season opener. He struck out eight and allowed two hits in seven innings. He walked three. Southeast jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. 6 days ago One person who desperately wants to be in Peoria Friday for Lanphier's Class 3A state tournament appearance can't be. He's trapped in a nursing home in Joliet. Actually, he's trapped in his own body. Marlon "Al" Page remains a prisoner of ALS. Lanphier basketball is his brief freedom. Nobody is a bigger Lions fan than Page, who has been a Lions player, coach, fan and do-whatever-is-needed guy. Coach Blake Turner sends him text messages after games. READ MORE
