In the Spring of 2014, our office conducted an anonymous survey of Illinois students grades, 3rd-8th. In the survey, students shared how new technologies, including gaming devices and apps, are shaping their lives and their interactions with parents, peers and strangers. The Attorney General's Office has started to incorporate the findings into our presentations and projects. To supplement a parent night, please find a resource ruler that includes trending apps and sites used by youth along with online resources for parents, teachers and guardians at: http://illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/cyberbullying/for_parents.html .
The A.G.'s Office is also offering resources for Online Action Days. The first of these days is a “Delete Day”, which provides students the opportunity to “clean up” online accounts to promote safety and respect. Online Action Days are driven by the survey data, and in return our office has made available the following resources to participating schools: implementation guide, student worksheets and downloadable posters. Resources are located at: http://illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/cyberbullying/for_educators.html .
