Springfield High School sophomore Grace Thompson has been selected to speak at We Day Illinois on Thursday, April 30, at Allstate Arena in Rosemont. Thompson will give her speech in front of 15,000 students as they celebrate the We Act Program, a year-long service learning curriculum. Leadership teams from both Iles School and Lincoln Magnet School will also be in attendance.
Thompson and the Me to We Leadership Teams from Iles and Lincoln have also been invited to attend The Evening of Champions on Wednesday, April 29, at The Harry Carey Sports Museum. The students will have an opportunity to meet celebrities and share their passion for service.
“Iles School has been a Me to We Youth in Action School since 2005. We are very excited to be part of Free the Children's mission to help children locally and globally,” said Iles Principal Kenyatta Revelle. “Being an International Baccalaureate World School means becoming aware of local and global issues and taking action as compassionate and active citizens. We have been very proud of Grace Thompson and her involvement with Free the Children ever since she was in second grade at Iles. We are proud of our Me to We Leadership Team for being the change we want to see in the world.”
