Springfield Public Schools Foundation Annual Dinner Jan. 30

January 14, 2016

The Springfield Public Schools Foundation will hold its 34th Annual Dinner Celebration and Art Auction on Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Sangamo Club, 227 E. Adams Street. A reception will be held at 6 p.m., with dinner beginning at 7 p.m.

This year’s guest speaker is Senator Andy Manar, a member of the Illinois Legislature. He will share the various plans in discussion to make school funding more equitable. Students will provide entertainment, and attendees will have an opportunity to bid on artwork created by the students and staff of Lanphier, Southeast and Springfield High Schools as well as Lawrence Education Center and the Studio 186 Art event. Culinary arts students will assist chef Larry Langley from the Sangamo Club and Michael Higgins from Maldaner's.

Reservations for the dinner are required and may be obtained by contacting Julie Hammers at 217/525-4406 or jhammers@sps186.org. Email is the preferred method of contact. The cost is $125 per person, and the deadline to make reservations is January 18. Proceeds from the dinner provide funding for innovative grants.

Since its inception in 1982, the Foundation has raised $3 million, funding programs and activities that directly benefit students throughout the school district.
