Black History Month events this week

February 16, 2016

Daily during the month of February:
-Franklin Middle School has a door decorating contest and decorations in its main lobby and stairwell, they have Black History t-shirts to be worn throughout the month, they have placed inspirational quotes on lockers and are sharing fast facts about influential African Americans daily during morning announcements.
-Feitshans Elementary will have videos and a treasure hunt for facts and will be doing a hallway decorating contest.
-Sandburg Elementary will have morning announcements and Instagram posts of famous African Americans and a classroom door decorating contest with historical facts. They will be turning the hallway into an African American museum.
-Wilcox Elementary will have interactive displays in the front hallway highlighting famous African Americans.
-Jefferson Middle School African American Heritage Bowl preliminary round continues through Tuesday, Feb. 23.
TODAY, Tuesday, Feb. 16:
-Dubois Elementary: Spoken word artist and musician Tebe Zalango performs at 1 PM, the 4th grade Black History Walk opens to the public
-Franklin Middle School: Black History art contest begins today through Friday, Feb. 26.
Thursday, Feb. 18
-Wilcox Elementary will host an African American History through Food, Music and Attire celebration at 1:15 PM.
-Feitshans Elementary: Southeast High School Show Choir will perform at 12:45 PM and 1:10 PM.
Saturday, Feb. 20
-Jefferson Middle School: Family Movie at Showplace 8 to view the movie RACE at 12:30 PM. Each family will be offered special admission and snack prices. The first 70 students will receive a free goody bag.
