About 450 students from Springfield middle and high schools will perform in the Springfield Public Schools’ annual All City Music Festival at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, at the University of Illinois Springfield’s Sangamon Auditorium.
This tradition of more than 30 years will feature a total of 10 band and choir selections. All groups will combine to perform the finale “Irving Berlin’s America,” conducted by Tom Philbrick, Southeast High School band director. Choir and band members include students from Lanphier, Southeast and Springfield high schools; and Franklin, Grant, Iles, Jefferson, Lincoln and Washington middle schools.
Performances will be led by guest conductors. Christian Seacrist (Illinois College) will conduct the high school band and Jill Gum will conduct the high school choir. David Snyder (Illinois State University) will conduct the middle school band and Abby Musgrove (Illinois College) will conduct the middle school choir. Superintendent Jennifer Gill will serve as guest conductor for the Star-Spangled Banner.
The event is funded in part by Springfield Public Schools Foundation. It is free and open to the public.
