Harvard Park students and families will participate in the Annual Family Wellness Picnic and Summer Reading Kickoff on Wednesday, May 18, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the school.
This event is a school tradition, but only the second year it has had a wellness focus.
“At Harvard Park, it is important that we teach healthy choices to build lifelong learners who have strong bodies as well as strong minds,” said Vykye Johnson, Title I Parent Educator Coordinator and Harvard Park FACE Team member.
This event will feature all things wellness. Highlights include free books for summer reading for all Harvard Park students in attendance; healthy food choices such as grilled chicken and fresh produce; a blood drive; a car crash simulator; music for dancing and various fitness stations around the school. There will also be providers offering student physicals and other free health screenings for adults. This is a community event and free of charge.
