Students at Jefferson Middle School will have new books to look forward to on the first day of school. School librarian Anne Groesch applied for and received $8,000 from the Snapdragon Book Foundation.
The school was one of 575 applicants and one of only nine recipients.
“The grant will allow us to replace well-worn, popular titles that we can no longer repair, as well as purchase new titles,” said Groesch. “Students can also look forward to reading the next books coming out in popular series. We will be able to fulfill teacher and student wish lists.”
The majority of Jefferson students participate in a reading challenge that begins second semester each year. Last year, they read over 1,000 books collectively.
