About 450 students from Springfield middle and high schools will perform in the Springfield Public Schools’ annual All City Music Festival at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, at the University of Illinois Springfield’s Sangamon Auditorium.
This tradition of more than 30 years will feature music students from all District 186 middle and high schools, with a total of 10 band and choir selections. Performances will be led by guest conductors including middle school choir, with guest conductor Leslie Manfredo, assistant professor of music education at Illinois State University; middle school band, with guest conductor John Francis, assistant professor of music at Hannibal LaGrange University; high school choir, with guest conductor Abby Musgrave, professor of music at Illinois College; and high school band, with retired Decatur Public Schools band director Jim Culbertson conducting. All groups will combine to perform a grand finale.
The event is sponsored in part by Springfield Public Schools Foundation. It is free and open to the public.
