Springfield High welcomes motivational speaker from docuseries Last Chance U

October 2, 2017

Springfield High School welcomes motivational speaker and star of Netflix documentary series Last Chance U Brittany Wagner on Saturday, Oct. 7, at noon in the school’s Schnirring Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Wagner will use the symbolism of her now famous line “Do you have a pencil?” to motivate student-athletes to put forth effort in becoming the best they can be. She uses the pencil and three of its physical attributes to articulate how to overcome obstacles and become the best on and off the field. “Do you have a pencil?” is a positive and uplifting message of hope. Wagner maintains the belief that anybody can achieve greatness.

The event is sponsored by benefactors of Springfield High School. It is open to all student-athletes as well as community members. Attendees are asked to enter through the school’s southeast doors.

Prior to the public presentation, Wagner will speak to the Springfield High School football team at 11 a.m. before their game against Decatur Eisenhower.

Last Chance U is a documentary that follows football prospects at East Mississippi Community College as they navigate academic and personal issues in their pursuit of success in the classroom and on the field. Wagner is the team’s academic advisor.
