WHAT: The 2nd Annual Art is Exceptional exhibit kicks off with an opening reception. The exhibit is a celebration of the artistic accomplishments of our District 186 student artists with special needs. Approximately 140 pieces of two- and three-dimensional artworks created by students from Dubois, Feitshans, Ridgley, Marsh, Laketown, Butler, Harvard Park, Matheny-Withrow, Addams, Enos, McClernand, Lee, Washington and Jefferson will be on display.
The exhibit will highlight the scope of the District’s visual arts program and continues a partnership with Springfield Art Association which will support an annual exhibit of this nature in the future.
WHEN: Opening Reception: Friday, Jan. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Dubois Elementary Visual Arts Educator and exhibit curator Elizabeth Marcy will be giving a brief talk about the motivation behind the exhibit at 6:30 PM. The exhibit runs through Friday, Jan. 25. The gallery is open Monday through Friday 9 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday 10 AM to 3 PM.
