Cooperative Education Programs

INTERRELATED COOPERATIVE EDUCATION (ICE) 334/435
This course is designed to assist student in the development of employability skills while learning job responsibility and a positive work ethic. Students learn marketable skills through on-the-job training, establish a work record, discover career interests and goals, are paid for their work and earn credit. (one for the class, two for the job training) The part time employment need not be related to the long range occupational goals of the student. Career exploration and post secondary planning are emphasized. The course fulfills the consumer education graduation requirement.

COOPERATIVE OFFICE OCCUPATION 335/435
Cooperative Office Occupations is a capstone course designed to assist students in the development of effective business skills and attitudes through practical, advanced instruction in school and on the job. Approximately half of the school day is spent taking classes at school and the other half is spent on-the-job training supervised by the employer and coordinated by the teacher-coordinator.

Cooperative Office Occupations reinforces basic keyboarding and computer skills using Microsoft Office software. Related instruction includes applying for a job, reviewing employability skills, understanding basic work relations, indexing, and exploring career opportunities.

COOPERATIVE MARKETING OCCUPATION 334/435
Cooperative Marketing Occupations is an upper-level course designed to assist students in the development of effective business skills and attitudes through practical, advanced instruction in school and on the job. Students earn two credits (one for the class and one for on the job training).

Class training focuses on the students marketing career goal with additional assignments based on areas where on-the-job performance indicates a need. Related instruction also includes applying for a job, occupational survival skills, essential character traits, and basic work relations.
Current technology is utilized in this course to develop information management competencies required for employment in marketing careers. The class stresses principles of retailing, salesmanship, and proper work attitudes and habits.
