Classroom routines are an important part of every classroom. When routines are chosen purposefully, taught and reviewed diligently, and modeled consistently, children know what is expected of them and how to do certain things on their own. Having these predictable patterns in place allows teachers to spend more time on learning and less time on management.
Routines are particularly important when you have technology. iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, clickers, etc. are awesome devices to support great learning, however, without routines in place, a great deal of instruction time can be lost just with management of the devices.
