CPR Saturdays

February 6, 2012

CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and consists of two parts: pushing on the chest (compressions) and giving breaths. An AED is an automated external defibrillator, a machine with a computer in it that can shock the heart into working properly again by quick identification of arryhthmia and defibrillation. When a person in need (non-responsive, not breathing, gasping) is identified , you begin CPR until the AED is available; CPR and AED are partners in treatment.
American Heart Association CPR/AED classes are offered to you free on the first Saturday morning of the month; they are taught by District #186 nurses. The next classes will be March 3 and May 5 (April first Saturday is a holiday weekend and no classes is being held that date).
If you would like to attend March 3 or May 5, please e-mail bgermann for a reserved space.

Attended last month and the nurses were great. Val and Kathy helped use get the basics, practice, and answer our questions. The pace matched our skill level and our progress. It will make you feel prepared for helping students, staff and family if needed. Thanks Pat Paul
