The Physician Pipeline Preparatory Program is a partnership between Springfield Public Schools and the S.I.U. School of Medicine. The program was implemented in November during the 2009/2010 school year (under the direction and leadership of former Springfield Public School District 186 Superintendent, Dr. Walter Milton Jr. and Dr. McNeese of the S.I.U. School of Medicine).
The purpose of P4 is to identify a diverse cohort of students with a strong interest in the field of medicine and to provide support and leadership opportunities and a variety of hands-on experiences to assist students in the achievement of their goals to become medical doctors.
The program has a total of 39 active student participants and a new cohort of freshman will be inducted into the program on October 30, 2014.
