All City Music Festival 2013

Please join us this evening, Tuesday, March 19, 2013 for the annual All City Music Festival. Roughly 425 students from Springfield middle and high schools will be performing in the Springfield School District’s annual All City Music Festival at the University of Illinois Springfield’s Sangamon Auditorium this evening.

Performances begin at 7 p.m. and will be led by guest conductors. The concert should last no more than two hours.

Jake Delfs, choir director for Herscher High School, will conduct the middle school choir. Pam Potter, retired band director from Quincy Notre Dame High School, will conduct the middle school band. Sue Hamilton, adjunct professor of music at Lincoln Land Community College, will conduct the high school choir. And Jason Waddell, assistant professor of music at Lincoln Land Community College, will conduct the high school band.

All groups will combine to perform a finale, “Patriot Dreams.” Choir and band members include students from Lanphier, Southeast, and Springfield high schools; and Franklin, Grant, Iles, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Washington Middle Schools.

Music scores, octavos, and conductor stipends are funded by a grant from the Springfield Public Schools Foundation.

Studio 186 Family Art Event

We had a wonderful Family Art Event On March 2, 2013. So many of our district families came to learn from artists, participate in the community art project and create at the make and take stations. Thank you to the Springfield Public Schools Foundation along with the following businesses and individuals for their financial support to make the event free to all our families.
