More than 400 students from Springfield middle and high schools performed in the Springfield Public Schools’ annual All City Music Festival at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, at the University of Illinois Springfield’s Sangamon Auditorium.
All of the groups combined to perform the finale “Within These Hallowed Halls.” Choir and band members include students from Lanphier, Southeast and Springfield high schools; and Franklin, Grant, Iles, Jefferson, Lincoln and Washington middle schools.
Performances were led by guest conductors. Lisa Whitley, retired music teacher from Quincy Public Schools, conducted the middle school choir. Bekah Philbrick, director of bands for Auburn School District conducted the middle school band. Dr. Abby Musgrove, professor of music at Illinois College, directed the high school choir and Dr. Matt Thomas, assistant director of bands at Western Illinois University, was the guest conductor for the high school band.
Thank you to the Springfield Public Schools Foundation for its generous support of this event.
