Above is a link to use to add a student's name who is interested in participating in a district sponsored trip to attend the Wednesday, October 10, 2018 performance of "Hamilton" at the CIBC Theatre in Chicago and meets the following criteria:
1. The student will be in grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 in the 2018-2019 school year.
2. The student is enrolled in a music performance class at one of District 186 middle or high schools.
3. The student has an excellent behavior record and outstanding attendance at school.
This lottery is only for STUDENT tickets. District 186 music staff will be chaperoning the trip. IF the student is one of the first 50 students to meet the criteria, an email with information for making the deposit and subsequent payments for the trip will be sent to the email addresses you input when you follow the link above. A waiting list will be established and you will be notified if or when tickets become available. On Thursday, March 15, 2018, art students were honored at a gallery event at Grant Middle School. Each art teacher chose one student from each of his or her schools to have artwork displayed at the Springfield Public School District administrative offices for one year. Congratulations to these very talented art students!
Young Americans Workshop Update
Due to the weather, it will take the Young Americans a little longer to get to Springfield High School tomorrow. So the workshop will be held from 3 pm to 7 pm (instead of 2pm to 6pm). We look forward to seeing you then!

This link will allow you to sign up for the "Hamilton" in Chicago ticket lottery. The trip is Wednesday, December 7, 2016, departing at 7:30 a.m. and returning at approximately 9:00 p.m. If you are in the first 50 to submit your name, you will receive an email from Lynn Gilmore to complete the registration process with the travel company. The All City Music Festivaly 2014 was held in Sangamon Auditorium on Thursday, April 3, 2014. Congratulations to all of our outstanding musicians on a job well done! Bravo!
All City Music Festival 2013
Please join us this evening, Tuesday, March 19, 2013 for the annual All City Music Festival. Roughly 425 students from Springfield middle and high schools will be performing in the Springfield School District’s annual All City Music Festival at the University of Illinois Springfield’s Sangamon Auditorium this evening.
Performances begin at 7 p.m. and will be led by guest conductors. The concert should last no more than two hours.
Jake Delfs, choir director for Herscher High School, will conduct the middle school choir. Pam Potter, retired band director from Quincy Notre Dame High School, will conduct the middle school band. Sue Hamilton, adjunct professor of music at Lincoln Land Community College, will conduct the high school choir. And Jason Waddell, assistant professor of music at Lincoln Land Community College, will conduct the high school band.
All groups will combine to perform a finale, “Patriot Dreams.” Choir and band members include students from Lanphier, Southeast, and Springfield high schools; and Franklin, Grant, Iles, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Washington Middle Schools.
Music scores, octavos, and conductor stipends are funded by a grant from the Springfield Public Schools Foundation.
