Dear Parents and Family Members:
The price of admission for all 6th grade sports venues is as follows:
$3.00 for adults
$2.00 for students K - 12 and seniors

Board of Directors Meeting Discussion of Athletics

At the Board Meeting Monday, May 21, 2012 a discussion will take place about athletics at SBCS. The meeting will be open for gaining information and discussion of Middle Level sports. Improvement ideas can be brought to share with the Board and Administration.

Sports Requirements

All student athletes must have a current physical on file and a completed Athletic Permit Card. A student may not participate in any athletic contest without a current physical. Athletic Permit Cards are located on the activity table in the main hallway.

Sports Overview

Overview
Requirements:
Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) and District 186 Board Policy require students to submit the following items to the Athletic Director in the main office at Lincoln before a student may try out for a sport.
1. An athletic card with proof of insurance and Drug and Alcohol Policy sections completed. These may be obtained in the main office.
2. Copy of student's birth certificate
3. Physical examination report completed within the current calendar year. The date of the physical must be current for the entire season in which the student is participating.

Eligibility:
In order to participate in athletics or co-curricular activities, students must be passing each class weekly. If a student is failing a class, he will be ineligible to participate in any athletic or co-curricular activity the following week. If a student is receiving a D, he is considered borderline. They may participate in the activities, unless the D becomes a failing grade.
Students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average at the end of each semester in order to remain eligible to participate in athletics and co-curricular activities the following semester.

Softball:
Open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls. The season begins in August and practice begins late July.

Baseball:
Open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys. The season begins in August and practice begins late July. Emphasis is placed on building fundamental skills and using team strategies.

Cross Country:
Open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys and girls who enjoy a fast two mile run. Practice begins mid-August, and competition runs through the middle of October.

Girls Basketball:
Season begins in September and goes through November. Any 7th or 8th grade girl is welcome to try out. 6th grade girls basketball is a separate program. The games are played on Saturdays. The season begins in September and ends in December.

Boys Basketball:
The boys' basketball program begins in October with tryouts for both the 7th and 8th grade teams.Emphasis is placed on building fundamental skills and using team strategies. (October - January). 6th grade boys basketball is a separate program. The games are played on Saturdays. The season begins in October and ends in January.

Volleyball:
Volleyball tryouts are held in December for both 7th and 8th grade girls. Emphasis is placed on building fundamental skills and using team strategies. The season ends in March

Track:
Open to all 6th, 7th and 8th grade Lincoln students. Activities include both track and field events. The season runs from February through May.
