Butler Community Garden Work Day - April 19th

2 days ago Plans are moving forward to create a Butler School Community Garden!! A work day is planned for Saturday, April 19 from 9 am - 12 noon. Everyone is invited to be part of this exciting creation. We will begin by constructing  3' x 3' boxes. Some of the boxes will be formed with bricks donated from the Hy-Vee work site, and some will be built with cedar planks. Raised beds will be built and planted with a butterfly garden and vegetables. Hy-Vee Community Garden at Butler School!!

Mar 18, 2014 Great News!!! Butler School has been awarded a Hy-Vee One Step Community Garden Grant! We look forward to providing our students with "hands on" experience in gardening. We also look forward to sharing the garden with the community surrounding Butler School! The school committee will meet to begin discussing the location of the garden on the school grounds, items to be placed in the garden, etc. Stay tuned for more information.

District 186 Family Art Event

Mar 18, 2014 Saturday, March 29th is Studio 186's 3rd annual Family Art Event - a FREE event to all district elementary school students and their families. Get your artistic juices flowing, and create some unique family memories… by making your own art, visiting with local professional artists, participating in break-out classes, bidding on artwork in a silent auction, and contributing to a community art project. Mr. Stewart to compete for a Guinness Book World Record!!

Oct 10, 2013 Mr. Justin Stewart, first grade gym teacher, is competing on Saturday, November 23rd at the Hilton Hotel in Springfield in an attempt to set a record for the most vertical feet stair climb in 12 hours. Mr. Stewart's current rank for this event is 2nd nationwide and 9th worldwide. Good Luck!
