Early Childhood Special Education is a program for children who have been determined through a screening and case study evaluation to have a special education eligibility. Our teachers work together, with the parents, to meet the individual needs of all of our students. Each classroom has two adults who work together to achieve the best possible program for your child.
The office for the Early Childhood Program is at Student Support Services (Graham School), 900 W. Edwards. They are responsible for coordinating bus schedules and other needs of the Early Childhood classrooms. Their number is 525-3060.
Early Start is an at risk Prekindergarten program funded through the Illinois State Board of Education for children who have been determined through a screening process to be at risk for academic success due one or more characteristics that may adversely impact academic development. There are two adults who work together in the classroom to create the best possible learning environment for your child.
The Early Start office, located at the ELC, conducts the day-to-day operations of the at risk Prekindergarten program. Issues and questions regarding Early Start (bus, student transfers, and preschool screening inquiries) should be referred to this office (525-3163).
Early Start/Head Start
The Early Start/Head Start program combines two community progams which work together to provide a full day opportunity for some of our students. The class is made up of students who are eligible to attend both Early Start and Head Start. Teachers from each program collaborate to provide a stimulating and creative learning experience for your child.
