Summer Daycamp for youth
July 11 to 15, 2016
Children grades 3 through 5 will participate in engaging summertime activities aimed at understanding the past and exploring their own lives through physical activities, arts and crafts. Educators and artists from historic sites and institutions throughout the community will provide hands-on programs that are educational and motivational. The camp is being led by Lynn Williamson, founder of Out of Africa Heritage Arts Center, board member at the Springfield & Central Illinois African American History Museum. “This camp is structured to reach children from all backgrounds and to foster understanding and unity in our community.” Lynn explained, “ I am so grateful to our many partners for contributing their time and expertise to this effort.” Healthy lunches and snacks will be provided each day. The cost is $125 per camper and scholarships are available. Call the Museum office @ 217.391.6323 for more information.
