PBIS, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. The program aims to promote good behavior in positive ways. Students are required to follow Fairview’s behavior expectations: Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Respect Property. Lessons on how to follow these expectations are taught to the students. These lessons are called Cool Tools. If students have difficulty following Fairview’s expectations they participate in a positive intervention called Check In / Check Out. If they continue to have trouble maintaining behavior, the students are provided with more intensive interventions. The ultimate goal of PBIS is to develop a positive learning environment where all children can achieve success.
