Free fun family event Friday, December 16, 7:45 am- 8:45 am! Make a memory with your child at Feitshans where together you can work on activities, read books, and enjoy a doughnut. All Feitshans student's can choose a book to keep for their home library. Please RSVP so there is enough for everyone!!
Please plan to attend this event scheduled for next Tuesday, October 4th. It will be an evening full of fun math activities for the whole family. Dinner will be served at 5:30 pm and activities will begin at 6:00 pm. Parents will access the enVision math website, engage in a grade-level math lesson, take home resources to help your child at home and have a chance to win prizes!
Starting the School Year off Right...from the Parent Mentor with Student Support
Please join us Wednesday, September 14, 2016, 6:00-7:30 p.m. for the Parent Mentor Training "Starting the School Year Off Right." Participants will learn a variety of "tried and true" tips that will help assure success this school year. A number of materials will be provided for parents to take home and use.
Parent Mentor Trainings are a learning opportunity for families of students with disabilities.
Pizza and refreshments will be served. Childcare is provided but requires pre-registration.

Join us at Feitshans on Thursday, September 1, 5:30 pm- 7:00 pm where we will first gather in the auditorium at 5:30 pm to meet the staff and learn about Title I and how parents can be involved with their child's education. Then, meet your child's teacher, tour the school and enjoy refreshments.
On the first day of school at 9:15 am in the library, you are invited to meet the Principal, other staff members, and Feitshans parents to hear about Title I and how you can be involved with your child's education, the school day routine and ask any questions you may have. A light breakfast will be available.
FACE Events 2015-2016
Celebrate the days of summer fun and reading! Join us at Wanless School on June 20th, (10:30 am- 11:30 am), and August 2nd at Brandon Court, (10:30- 11:30 am), and Poplar Place (11:45 am- 12:45 pm) for fun activities, treats and receive a free book!
5:30 pm- 7:00 pm: At 5:30 pm, kindergarten, first and second graders will have you tapping your toes to the songs of Pajama Party! Afterward, enjoy the "art gallery walk" in the lower level where all students will display a piece of artwork. Ice cream will be provided in the cafeteria. This is our final- and free- parent and family engagement event for the school year. This event is provided with Title I funds and is open to all.
The 8th Annual Disability to Possibility Workshop will be held Sat., Feb. 20th, 8:30 am- 12:00 pm at Southeast High School, 2350 East Ash Street. See attached flyer for more information.
Parents, do you feel like you need a refresher class in adding and subtracting? Have you ever said, "I don't understand this new math!" or "I can't help my first grader with his math!" Feitshans has heard you loud and clear and we have just the answer...Nifty Numbers! Please join us at Feitshans on Thursday, January 21 to learn with other parents, receive grade-level information from teachers, have hands- on experiences and take home activities. In addition, we will have prize drawings and a free dinner will be available at 6:00 pm with the activities from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Childcare is available for children ages 3 and up. Please complete the pink RSVP paper that goes home with your child or call 525-3030.
This family engagement event is scheduled for Friday, October 23rd from 8:00 am- 8:45 am. Enjoy special time in the morning with a breakfast, reading activity book and estimation jar. All students will be able to choose a book for their home library. Who is invited? On Saturday, May 2, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, Feitshans will have a free Family Fun Event to promote the renovations that will take place at the school in July. Also, artwork from every student in the school will be displayed. There will be food, ice cream, games, face painting, karaoke and each Feitshans student will be able to choose a book to keep. Mark your calendar for this FREE family fun event here at Feitshans on Saturday, May 2 from 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm.

The 5Essentials survey for will be taken online by Feitshans parents and guardians. If you do not have access to a computer and would like to complete the survey, a representative or parent will be able to assist with completing the survey.

We can talk about educational issues, answer any questions you may have, share parenting challenges and ideas or just drink coffee, eat pastries and visit!. Also, we can have visits from school staffâ€” the social worker, nurse, reading coach, or district personnel.

In an attempt to make more books available for students to add to their home library, the PTO will be having a Used Book Sale on Wednesday, October 22 during the grade-level recess time. The flyer is attached (click on "Used Book Sale" above) with the information and times of sale.
"Star Parent" and Donations for School Supplies
A big THANK YOU goes out to our "Star Parent" Lucrecia Beler and Kara Hutchings at MacArthur Priority Care (1836 South MacArthur). Ms. Hutchins and MacArthur Priority Care generously donated so that students can start the year with new school supplies. Our Feitshans parent, Lucresia Beler, successfully secured these donations, purchased and distributed supplies herself to students. Ms. Beler is committed to fundraising for the next school year. If you like to support our "Star Parent" in her school supply drive, please contact me, Linda Gail Perkins at 525-3030.
FACE Events 2013- 2014
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, April 30th, 6:00 pm- 7:30 pm for an Art Gallery Walk and Ice Cream Social at Feitshans. In addition to viewing student artwork, every child will be able to choose a book to take home from a Title I book selection, and the Blue Ribbon Book Fair will be here with many affordable selections. Also, 21st Century will provide free blood pressure and glucose screenings, gardening and healthy eating tips and more!
Family Game Night has been scheduled for Thursday, February 27th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. This will also be a great opportunity to learn more about the upcoming ISAT test being given to all students in grades 3-5 the first week of March. There will be traditional games (Candyland, Monopoly, Uno), as well as other games provided by our Title I department. Flyers have been sent home with students, so please complete the RSVP and return it to school with your child. Hope to see you all there!
Newspapers in Education Family Event
A newspaper will be provided to each student where you will complete various activities that appear in the Kid Scoop page. The Kid Scoop page includes interactive games, activities, puzzles, and reading sections that a child and family can enjoy together. In addition, a newspaper scavenger hunt and activity book will be provided. The learning standard is using non-fiction informational text.
Wednesday, January 29th. Two sections offered: 7:30 am- 8:30 am or 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. This is a free event and food will be offered at each section.
Family (at-home) Reading Night: Thursday, November 21
Feitshans students and families will celebrate this at-home event by reading with someone at home. The reading partner can be mom, dad, aunt, big sisterâ€¦anyone involved in the life and education of our Feitshans students. Families will answer a
few questions about what they read, sign a paper, and students will return the paper to school. If our school GOAL of 80% returned papers is met, a free jean day will be planned. Reading material can be a newspaper, book, magazine or other material of interest. If a student needs a book to read, they should talk with their teacher. More information on this event will be sent home.
Parent- Teacher Conferences
You and your child's school have something in common: You both want your child to learn and do well. When parents and teachers talk with each other, each person can share important information about your child's talents and needs. Please plan on attending your child's Parent- Teacher conference. These will be held on Thursday, October 24th (pm) and Friday, October 25th (day).
