Alex Harden - Wichita State Basketball
WICHITA, Kan.- CollegeSportsMadness.com has named Wichita State’s Alex Harden to its 2013-14 High-Major All-American First Team.
Harden, a junior from Springfield, Ill., led the Shockers in scoring on the season at 17.0 points a game, while pulling down 5.7 rebounds and handing out 4.9 assists a game. She also collected a team-high 76 steals on the season to go along with 40 blocks.
Named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference for consecutive seasons, Harden was the main catalyst in Wichita State’s second-straight regular-season and postseason MVC Championships and trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Harden scored 562 points on the season, which is the third best single-season point mark in Shocker history and her 1,147 career-points are already 14th in the Wichita State record book.
Harden is the only player from the Valley named on the list. Drake’s Lizzy Wendell was named the high-major freshman of the year.
