Once again the Graham School staff is issuing a summer reading challenge to students.
Each child who reads, or is read to, for 600 minutes or more and who tracks the reading using either the reading log or Read 5 & Beyond, the district's summer reading site will be invited to attend a mystery celebration when returning to school in July.
Reading can begin on Thursday, June 7th and the reading log is due in to the office no later than Friday, July 20th.
This year the district has introduced a new way of tracking your child’s summer reading books and minutes. It is called Read 5 and Beyond and is located on the district 186 website (www.sps186.org).
Each child has a district username and password that they may use to log into the website. They can keep track of which books they are reading and how many minutes they spend reading. They can choose from among the books they are being given to take home for the summer, books they check out from the library, or books they have in their at-home library.
A calendar on the site will list summer reading events. Students also will have access to discussion groups for each of the summer books provided to them.
Your child must track their minutes on the website or complete the reading log on the back and turn it in with parent signature by July 20th. We cannot accept a note stating “My child read for 600 minutes."
Have a great summer and Read, Read, Read!
