CANNED FOOD DRIVE A HUGE SUCCESS!!!

During Red Ribbon Week our school helped support our community by bringing in canned food for our food drive. Congratulations to Mrs. Hoffmeister’s 4th grade class for being the classroom to bring in the most cans with 147. It was a close race with our second place classroom coming in at 141. We as a school collected around 800 cans of food. As the winning class, Mrs. Hoffmeister’s class will be taking a field trip to the Salvation Army to see where the food will go. Thanks for all of your support with the food drive!!!!

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week
Graham Elementary
October 25‐29
So, what is Red Ribbon Week? In 1985, Special Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) was working undercover in Mexico when he was caught, tortured, and murdered by drug traffickers. IDEA, along with the Virginia Federation of Parents, organized the first national Red Ribbon Campaign to recognize Kiki's fight. The red ribbon became the symbol of zero
tolerance for illegal drug use and a commitment to a drug‐free lifestyle. The Red Ribbon Campaign helps to build individual and community awareness regarding alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use and addiction, and publicizes the prevention and intervention programs available to address these social
concerns.
We are hoping to bring some of this awareness to Graham by providing educational opportunities, fun activities, and special events. If students participate in the themed days, they will have several opportunities to receive prizes throughout the week. The classroom that brings in the most cans at the end of the week will win a field trip.
Help join the fun by participating in theme days during the week:
