“B” Day

Good morning and welcome to Prime Time News!

The Illinois School Safety Drill Act requires school curriculum to include instruction and participation in various security drills in order to reinforce safety procedures for Grant Middle School staff and students. One of the security measures is called a “ CODE RED”. A “ CODE RED” drill will be conducted this week in order for our students to understand the procedures to be followed in case of an outside threat to our school.

Auditions for the annual Grant Talent Show will be held on May 16th and 17th from 2:30-4. You must have a copy of your music and your entire talent ready to perform during the audition process. Your talent must be at least 5 minutes long. School appropriate acts and music only! The talent show will be held June 6th during the school day. Sign up with Mrs. Kyes in room 201 if you are interested.

HALLWAY SWEEPS: Hallway sweeps will begin if we continue to have several students tardy to class. Be sure to get to class on time and be in your seat before the tardy bell rings.

Cell Phones: Turn in your old cell phones to school.

whenever you have a guest teacher, you are to show him/her the same respect as you would your regular teacher. The guest teacher knows the BIST procedures. If you are asked to go to the Safe Seat, you must move to the Safe Seat. If you must be removed from the classroom, you will be escorted to the office and issued three noon detentions and a phone call home.
Dress Code Violators & Gum Chewing: This is the verbal warning for the entire student body concerning shirts being un-tucked, sagging, and gum chewing in class and the hallways. If a teacher or staff member notices you are violating the dress code or chewing gum you will be assigned a noon detention with the administrators.

Cafeteria: Students need to enter the café first to eat their lunch. You cannot go outside or the gym and then come in and eat lunch. Also, when you are wanting to leave the café, you will need to raise your hand and wait for an adult to dismiss you from your table. At that time please dispose of your garbage, tray and beverages other than water. You may then go outside or to the gym, the library will be available upon request from Mrs. Childress.

Teachers: Students can go to their lockers: before school, after 2nd block, before/after lunch, and then after-school. You cannot go get pe clothes – they need to be with you! Assign noon detentions if a student is at their locker w/out a pass.

TRACK: Track meet today against Jefferson MS and Jacksonville Turner at 4:00 PM. Grant is hosting the meet, which will be held at SHS track. Come out and cheer on our runners and participants. Questions see Coach Judd, Coach Hayes, or Coach Smith.
