“B” Day

Good morning and welcome to Prime Time News!

Regular school hours begin: 8:00AM-2: 30PM

DRESS CODE: The school uniform policy is in effect, Monday, August 22nd. There are no grace periods. All shirts MUST be tucked in and a belt worn at all times during the school day. You might want to bring an extra belt to keep in your locker. No cargo pants or shorts.

WE ROCK shirts will be for sale beginning Monday during all three-lunch shifts. The shirts sell for $12 each and CAN be worn to school.

LUNCH: The gym is now open during lunch. On “A” days the girls will be allowed to go to the gym and on “B” days the boys.

Teachers: Students can go to their lockers: before school, after 2nd block, before/after lunch, and then after-school. You cannot go get pe clothes before; they need to be with you! A noon detention will be assigned if a student is at their locker w/out a pass.

Due to the potential health hazards of wearing silly bands, Grant has put a ban on the wearing of any of these bands in the school building at any time during the school day. Students are still allowed to wear the “Livestrong” wristbands or others like them

SPORTS:

CROSS COUNTRY: This week we have CC practice for the boys and girls team everyday. Practice will begin at 2:45-4:00. Girls & Boys, Miss Zimmers will meet you by the softball field behind the school at 2:45- no later. We will have an activity bus running everyday at 4:15 p.m.

ACTIVITIES:

WEB: Attention all WEB Leaders! We will be having a meeting on Wednesday right after school from 2:40-4:00. We will meet in the mobile. Questions see Mr. Hayes or Mrs. Hayes.

ART CLUB: ART CLUB WILL HAVE Its FIRST MEETING THIS FRIDAY, SEPT. 9TH…. FROM 2:30-4:00 IN THE ART ROOM~ PLEASE COME AND GET AN INFORMATIONAL SHEET FOR YOUR PARENTS TO READ BEFORE FRIDAY~ ANY QUESTIONS JUST STOP BY AND SEE MS. DELONG……..

SHOW CHOIR: Due to the plethora of other activities going on next week show choir workshop and auditions will be postponed one week to September 13th and 15th. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE AUDITIONS PLEASE LET MISS BENTSEN KNOW AND WE CAN SCHEDULE ANOTHER TIME!!

JAZZ BAND: will be starting next WEDNESDAY. Students who have been playing their instruments for at LEAST ONE YEAR are welcome to join us. If you are NOT in band but would like to participate please see Miss Bentsen. If you would like to play guitar or bass in the band you also need to see Miss Bentsen to play a short audition of the music we play!

IMSA: GMS Students - Are you interested in math and science? Well, if accepted into the IMSA program you could investigate your Sensational Senses and a forensics unit on black dirt, bones, and burns. The application process is coming to an end. All paperwork needs to be turned in to Mrs. Borah by Wednesday 9/7/11 at 2:30. Need more information, paperwork, or have questions visit the GMS website or Mrs. Borah's website and click on IMSA.

SCHOOL STORE: Attention Students: The School Store is in Room 205 - Mrs. Connolley's Room. Come before school or during your lunch to purchase paper, folders, pencils, pens, notebooks, glue, composition books, colored pencils, erasers, pencil lead and divider tabs. Most items sell between 25 cents and $2.50. The school store has stocked up on composition notebooks. The price is now 50 cents. Also, we have a limited supply of graph paper packs for math. They are $1.75. The store is in room 205 and is open before and after school and during lunch.

BIRTHDAYS: look on list and announce names!

Bottled water can be purchased all day in the main lobby. The Pepsi machines are turned off during the school day and then after-school they will be turned back on. We will also have a candy table that will only be available after-school. We need to leave the building in a timely fashion. The buses will pull out of the parking lot at 2:30 pm sharp every day this week. Remind students about walking home and respecting the property of neighbors as well as area businesses.

Cell phones, CD, I pods and toys are not allowed on in the building at any time. If you are caught they will be taken, turned into the office, parents notified and will be responsible to pick up said items.

BELTS: We have belts for sale in the main office. The cost is $2.00; see Ms. Mary before school to purchase a belt. Belt MUST BE a solid color only!
