Good morning and welcome to Prime Time News!
Regular school hours begin: 8:00AM- 2:30PM!
Any student in need of the "First Day Fund" form needs to see Mrs. Nance in the principal’s office.
PBIS: Today and Thursday the PBIS team will be selling Klondike bars. If you'd like to buy them they will be available for $2.
CAMP CILCA: 6th grade Trip: Camp Cilca Update: For those going on the trip, a mandatory parent meeting will take place April 25th from 6-7 pm in the GMS Cafeteria! If your parent cannot make this meeting, they will have make special arrangements to come in before or after school to get the forms from Mrs. Griminger. We will send home a reminder with camp information, but you may want to inform parents of this meeting so they can adjust their schedule to attend. Remember, money is due April 27th. Again, Camp Cilca is May 16, 17, and 18th.
GUEST TEACHERS: whenever you have a guest teacher, you are to show him/her the same respect as you would your regular teacher. The guest teacher knows the BIST procedures. If you are asked to go to the Safe Seat, you must move to the Safe Seat. If you must be removed from the classroom, you will be escorted to the office and issued three noon detentions and a phone call home.
Cafeteria: Students need to enter the cafeteria first to eat their lunch. You cannot go outside or the gym and then come in and eat lunch. Also, when you want to leave the cafeteria, you will need to raise your hand and wait for an adult to dismiss you from the table. At that time please dispose of your garbage, tray and beverages other than water. You may then go outside or to the gym; the library will be available upon request from Mrs. Childress.
Dress Code Violators & Gum Chewing: This is the verbal warning for the entire student body concerning shirts being un-tucked, sagging, and gum chewing in class and the hallways. If a teacher or staff member notices you are violating the dress code or chewing gum you will be assigned a noon detention with the administrators.
8th Grade Field Trip T-Shirt Design Contest:
You must be an 8th grader to participate. Draw your design in black and white and keep it simple. Deadline: April 27, 2012.
The winner will receive a free field trip, which is a $65.00 value. If you have already paid for the trip, your money will be refunded to you.
See Mr. Buerkett if you have questions.
8th Grade Field Trip:
Attention 8th Graders: The buses are full and there is a waiting list. If a student who has signed up chooses (or is unable) to go, then a student from the waiting list will be added. If you are on the waiting list and no seats open up, you will receive a full refund. If you are already signed up and decide you cannot go, you must tell Mrs. Schroeder by April 27 to receive a full refund. After April 27 refunds will be based on whether there is someone from a waiting list to replace you.
Also - final payments for the trip must be made no later than Friday April 27th. If you have not made a final payment you risk losing your seat to someone on the waiting list so don't delay!
If you have any questions please see Mrs. Schroeder in room 217 before or after school or during 8th grade lunch.
LUNCH: The gym is now open during lunch. On “A” days the girls will be allowed to go to the gym and on “B” days the boys.
Teachers: Students can go to their lockers: before school, after 2nd block, before/after lunch, and then after-school. You cannot go get per clothes before; they need to be with you! A noon detention will be assigned if a student is at their locker w/out a pass.
Due to the potential health hazards of wearing silly bands, Grant has put a ban on the wearing of any of these bands in the school building at any time during the school day. Students are still allowed to wear the “Livestrong” wristbands or others like them.
TRACK: Track members are not allowed to wear their uniform sweats to school as a “jacket!”
Practices all week from 2:30-4:00 PM. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WATER TO TRACK PRACTICE EVERYDAY!!!
CHEERLEADING: GMS Cheerleading tryouts for the 2012-2013 Cheerleading squad are May 1,2, and 3 from 5:30-7:30. If you would an informational flyer, please go by Mrs. Silver's room 210 to get one. Questions see Mrs. Silveri.
ART CLUB: "The GREEN SCREEN pictures created during ROCK BLOCK with Ms. DeLong are ready for you to pick!!! Please don't forget to come and get them… they're pretty funny! Nice work gang! Questions… see Ms. Delong
IMSA: MSA students- *Remember to turn in your Sci-Tech field trip permission slips to Mrs. Thomas or Ms. Meneghetti by this Friday, April 27th 2012.

CHESS CLUB: NO CHESS for the Rest of the year!
BETA: We will have a Beta meeting for all current members right after school on Wednesday in room 101, the activity bus will be available.
Any students who were interested in applying for Beta, we have extended the due date to Friday, April 27th. Applications are available in the bookshelf in front of the office, if they are out, you can get one from Marsha in Mrs. Robertson's office.
SHOW CHOIR: Show Choir will be meeting next Tuesday after school from 2:30 until 4.
SCHOOL STORE: Attention school store shoppers! The shelves of the school store have been restocked. If you are in need of pencil lead . . . we have it for $1!!!!! Come see the new assortment of pencils and pens . . . mini notebooks and fun calculators, mini staplers and pencil sharpeners! The school store is located in room 205 - student support room and is open most of the day!
Cell phones, are not allowed on in the building at any time. If you are caught, the phone will be confiscated and turned into the office, parents notified and will be responsible to pick up said items.
BELTS: We have belts for sale in the main office. The cost is $2.00; see Ms. Mary before school to purchase a belt. Belt MUST BE a solid color only.
