Good morning and welcome to Prime Time News!
Regular school hours begin: 8:00AM- 2:30PM!
Any student in need of the "First Day Fund" form needs to see Mrs. Nance in the principal’s office.
Attention sixth grade boys - the slapping game has ended! This is the warning for the entire school. If you are caught playing the slapping game hitting others on the head etc. You will assign appropriate consequences for your actions. Again the slapping game is OVER!
ATTENTION FUTURE LIONS!
Lion's Pride Show Choir auditions will be after school on May 16th! Mrs. Mitchell and the assistant directors will be here to audition you on this day. Please dress comfortably as you will be learning a dance. Bring sheet music or a karaoke CD for your vocal audition. Stop by Mr. Mitchell's office to sign up try to sign up before May 15th - if you have any questions please see Ms Bentsen, Mr. Russell or Mr. Mitchell. If you forget to sign up you can still audition you just be last to perform. SHOW your LHS PRIDE and join this fun and exciting group. Th4is group travels to different cities in Illinois to compete - planning on a trip to compete at Six Flags and takes trips to the St Louis Fox Theater each year! You do not have to be in music classes at Grant to audition. This is open to anyone who will be attending LHS — Band students you can also audition as Mrs. Mitchell and the band director will work out a schedule for you!
Mrs. Childress will leave the book exchange tables from the A.R. Hall of Fame celebration in the back of the library for the week. If you have books that you would like to exchange for other books, you may do so over your lunch shift.
CAMP CILCA: Final Instructions for Camp Cilca is May 16, 17, and 18th.
(Read 5/11, 5/14 & 5/15)
1. Be here at Wed. 16th at 7 a.m. with bedding and duffle bag in labeled plastic bags.
2. Be dressed in layers and tennis shoes for a day outdoors.
3. Wear backpack with poncho, bug spray, hat, and camera.
4. Eat breakfast before arriving.
5. Check in, give meds to teachers at table, board bus.
6. Remember, pick-up is Friday 4:45 back of school.
GUEST TEACHERS: whenever you have a guest teacher, you are to show him/her the same respect as you would your regular teacher. The guest teacher knows the BIST procedures. If you are asked to go to the Safe Seat, you must move to the Safe Seat. If you must be removed from the classroom, you will be escorted to the office and issued three noon detentions and a phone call home.
Cafeteria: Students need to enter the cafeteria first to eat their lunch. You cannot go outside or the gym and then come in and eat lunch. Also, when you want to leave the cafeteria, you will need to raise your hand and wait for an adult to dismiss you from the table. At that time please dispose of your garbage, tray and beverages other than water. You may then go outside or to the gym; the library will be available upon request from Mrs. Childress.
Dress Code Violators & Gum Chewing: This is the verbal warning for the entire student body concerning shirts being un-tucked, sagging, and gum chewing in class and the hallways. If a teacher or staff member notices you are violating the dress code or chewing gum you will be assigned a noon detention with the administrators.
8th Grade Field Trip:
Attention 8th Graders going to Chicago:
If you did not receive a sheet with details of the trip when you signed up for groups, please get one from Mrs. Schroeder in room 217. This form contains important information and will answer most questions about the trip. Remember - you need to pack a sack lunch! If you have any other questions please see Mrs. Schroeder.
LUNCH: The gym is now open during lunch. On “A” days the girls will be allowed to go to the gym and on “B” days the boys.
Teachers: Students can go to their lockers: before school, after 2nd block, before/after lunch, and then after-school. You cannot go get per clothes before; they need to be with you! A noon detention will be assigned if a student is at their locker w/out a pass.
Due to the potential health hazards of wearing silly bands, Grant has put a ban on the wearing of any of these bands in the school building at any time during the school day. Students are still allowed to wear the “Livestrong” wristbands or others like them.
TRACK: Track members are not allowed to wear their uniform sweats to school as a “jacket!”
Practices all week from 2:30-4:00 PM. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WATER TO TRACK PRACTICE EVERYDAY!!!
WEB: Attention all 7th grade students, now is the time to pick up your WEB Leader applications. You can get them from Mrs. Connolley's office in room 205. The applications must be completed by this Friday, May 11th. We will be choosing our group of leaders next week, so it is essential to get the applications in as soon as possible. If you have any questions after the meeting, please ask Mr. Hayes, Mrs. Hayes, or Mrs. Connolley. We look forward to working with you and helping you become an outstanding leader!
SHOW CHOIR: Show Choir will be meeting next Tuesday after school from 2:30 until 4.
SCHOOL STORE: Attention school store shoppers! The shelves of the school store have been restocked. If you are in need of pencil lead . . . we have it for $1!!!!! Come see the new assortment of pencils and pens . . . mini notebooks and fun calculators, mini staplers and pencil sharpeners! The school store is located in room 205 - student support room and is open most of the day!
Cell phones, are not allowed on in the building at any time. If you are caught, the phone will be confiscated and turned into the office, parents notified and will be responsible to pick up said items.
BELTS: We have belts for sale in the main office. The cost is $2.00; see Ms. Mary before school to purchase a belt. Belt MUST BE a solid color only.
