Good morning and welcome to Prime Time News!

Friday, March 26, 2010- Early Dismissal @ 1:30 PM. Spring Break Begins- School Resumes on Monday, April 5.

We will have a cookout for all students with perfect attendance for the 4th quarter.

Remember to bring your planners to class everyday.

NO GUM at anytime-during the school day!

7th Grade Lunch Shift- Thursday, 3/25 ONLY- will be from 11:55-12:25 due to the 7th grade LLCC field trip.

8th Grade Students: The deadline to turn in your 8th Grade permission slip and money is Monday April 5th! Seating is limited and reservations will be made on a first come first served basis! That means you may not be able to go if you wait till the last minute to turn in your stuff!! Don't delay, order now and we'll include the trip back absolutely free!!! Permission slips are in the bookcase in front of the main office. See Mr. Wilkening for more information!!!

ISAT =Perfect Attendance: Rewards - Those students who have perfect attendance for the entire five days of the ISAT testing will receive a special reward. The reward will be a donut breakfast, a raffle for a chance to throw a pie in the face of an administrator or teacher (who chooses to participate) on March 24 and another raffle for preferential seating to the student/staff volleyball game on March 26.

Friday, 3/26- Staff vs. the Girls 8th grade volleyball team and the 8th grade boys basketball team. The cost is $1.00 for all students who want to attend. ONLY students with no BOM for the week may attend the game. Start time is 12:30.

Every Wednesday will be Pickle Day at Grant. Bring 75 cents to buy a big dill pickle during lunchtime in the lobby. Proceeds will go back to Grant students for PBIS rewards! Respect yourself, respect others and respect property!

NEW: LUNCH RULE: Will begin on Monday, 9/28 the new rule is as follows:
“A” days- only the girls 6/7/8 will be allowed in the gym.
“B” days- only the boys 6/7/8 will be allowed in the gym

LOCKERS: Teachers: Students can go to their lockers: before school, after 2nd block, (8th grade/6th grade only an go before and after lunch), and then after-school. You cannot go get pe clothes – they need to be with you! Assign noon detentions if a student is at their locker w/out a pass.

SPORTS:

GVB: 7th and 8th grade volleyball please turn in uniforms, bags and warm-ups to Mr. Dworak room 100 by next Friday, 3/19/10.

TRACK: Practice today: 2:30-4:00 PM. Questions or concerns see - Coach Hayes, Coach McDonald & Coach Judd

CHEERLEADING: Uniforms need to be turned in as soon as possible. Each cheerleader who has not turned in their uniform will receive two noon detentions every day starting, Wednesday, 3/17 until the uniforms have been collected. Questions see Ms. Smith.

ACTIVITIES:

SHOW CHOIR: will have practice next Tuesday from 2:30-4:00 PM.

JAZZ BAND: will have practice Thursday; from 2:30-4:00 PM.

IMSA: IMSA students – will meet after school every Monday! See you then! Mrs. Borah

Have you bought your 09-10 GMS yearbook yet? Many of you purchased one with your book fees. If you're not sure, check in the hallway, just
outside of room 220, and you'll see the list of those who have bought one.
We've sold almost 1/3 of our allotment of yearbooks already, so don't
delay. . .buy yours today. Room 220 before or after school.

Bottled water can be purchased all day in the main lobby. The Pepsi machines are turned off during the school day and then after-school they will be turned back on. We will also have a candy table that will only be available after-school. We need to leave the building in a timely fashion. The buses will pull out of the parking lot at 2:38 pm sharp every day this week.

CAFETERIA RULES:
REMIND students to leave your table in the cafeteria, you must raise your hand to be excused at all times while you are in the cafeteria.
No Food leaves the cafeteria-water only.
Once you leave the cafeteria you cannot return during lunch!
Explain the 5 min rule and the 2 min. rule!

Remind students about walking home and respecting the property of neighbors as well as area businesses. After-school if you need to cross the street in front of the school, please cross with an adult. Officer Martin or Mrs. Crum will assist you –DO NOT dart across the traffic.

A weapon can be anything used to do bodily harm to another student or staff member and include: Rubber bands and “shanks” these are not allowed at school at any time during the school day. Guidelines in the student discipline handbook will be followed.

Cell phones, CD, I pods and toys are not allowed on in the building at any time. If you are caught they will be taken, turned into the office, parents notified and will be responsible to pick up said items.

Students cannot leave campus after-school and return it is too dangerous and not allowed. Anyone caught doing this will receive a PM detention for 1-½ hours cleaning windows, lockers ……

BELTS: No shoelaces, twine or rope can be worn as a belt during the school day! We have belts for sale in the main office. The cost is $2.00; see Ms. Mary before school to purchase a belt. Belt MUST BE a solid color only! BELT- with spikes- weapon if used incorrectly.

NO TANK TOPS CAN BE WORN OVER THE TOP OF YOUR POLO SHIRT AT ANY TIME!!!!!Shirts need to be tucked in at all times! This includes lunch. When you leave the building at the end of the day, you may untuck as you wish. NO SAGGING!
NO Baby Doll- sweaters allowed! BLACK JEANS- NOT ALLOWED!!!!!
There was a mistake in the handbook- NAVY blue polo’s are not one of our colors.
Another reminder…. We cannot wear shirts from last year that have student’s signature or graffiti on them- they are not allowed at all. Questions see Ms. Smith.
