"B" Day

Good morning and welcome to Grant Middle School. Where we are on a " winning streak!

8th Grade Students: If you would like to purchase an 8x10 8th grade class picture for $10.00, bring your money or check made payable to Life touch to room 220 before or after school. All orders must be received by October 17th.

We will be selling Alex Rahn bracelets on A & B lunch shifts. Please make sure to bring $3.00.

Be prepared for a Code Yellow Drill today during 2nd block. We will announce our intentions for the drill.

Halloween Dance- tickets will be on sale before school and during lunch starting Thursday, October 16th and running through Friday, October 24th. Tickets are on sale for $5.00.

GMS Girls- if you are interested in filling out an application for the Girl 2 Girl Dream Speakers Mentoring Program with UIS please see your Guidance Dean for an application. All applications are due by Monday, October 13.

TEACHERS: Do not let students leave early before lunch and at the end of the day to return their computers to their respective computer carts.

7th & 8th Graders- just a reminder that you are responsible for your computer bags. When you do not have your computer in your bag, then your bag is in YOUR LOCKER NOT being left in your computer cart classroom. Please see Mrs. Love or Mrs. Crum with any questions.
ALL LAPTOPS (7th & 8th GRADE) WILL NEED TO STAY IN THE CARTS THROUGHOUT MAP TESTING. WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN TESTING IS OVER AND WHEN YOU CAN AGAIN TAKE YOUR LAPTOPS FROM CLASS TO CLASS.

Mrs. Borah's 2nd block classes remember you are to go to room 01B until further notice.

WEB Leaders: if you do not sign up for a committee soon, then you will be placed in one randomly. The sign-up as well as descriptions for each committee are located on the bulletin board outside Mrs. Hayes' room.

Extended Recess: we will have an extra recess for those students who did not receive any bouts of misbehavior since the beginning of school, on October 22, 2008.
8th: 8:15-8:45 7th: 9:00-9:30 6th: 9:45-10:15

IMSA: After school meeting are on Monday nights, from 2:45-4:15. 7th grade report to room 221 and 8th grade report to room 225.

Grant Middle Schools' tutoring is Monday through Thursday from 2:45 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Activity buses are provided at 4:15 p.m. (Read who is where/and what today). There will be various teachers in different classrooms to assist with homework, projects, research, and to assist students in improving their efforts in various academic areas.

Lockers:
8th Grade: Before school, after second block, after lunch, after 3rd block and at the end of the school day!
7th Grade: Before school, after second block, before lunch, after 3rd block and at the end of the school day!
6th Grade (CHANGE): Before school, after second block, and after lunch and at the end of the day. You can now go after lunch ad get your supplies for 3rd and 4th block because you can no longer go after 3rd block. Goes into effect TUESDAY 10/14.

Rubber bands are not allowed at school at any time!

SPORTS FUNDRAISER: All athletes are required to sell 5 Grant Middle School Discount Card! See Ms. Smith for information. If you need to turn in your money please see me after announcements.

SPORTS:
CC: The CC team will practice tonight 2:30-4:00. The 7/8 GBB have practice tonight from 2:30-4 and will travel to Taylorville for the Terrier Classic on Friday and Saturday, the 7th grade plays 4:00 and the 8th grade game immediately follows. Good luck girls. 6GBB- will practice Friday, 10/19, 2:30-4. The 6GBB have a BYE this Saturday. We will have an activity bus running every night at 4:15pm
CHEERLEADING. Practice: Thursday, 10/9 2:30-4.

ART CLUB: will meet on - (Questions see Ms. Delong).

SHOW CHOIR: every Tuesday from 2:30-4:00 (questions see Ms. Bentsen).

SPORTS PHYSICALS: The sports physicals are today in the gym. The physicals are only for 6/7/8 boys trying out for boy's basketball. The cost is $10.00, make checks payable to Grant Middle School or bring cash.

Bottled water can be purchased all day in the main lobby. Can bring your own water bottles. The Pepsi machine will be turned off during the school day and then after-school they will be turned back on. We will also have a candy table that will only be available after school as well. We need to leave the building in a timely fashion. The buses will pull out of the parking lot at 2:38pm sharp everyday!

Keep working on perfect attendance. Those students who have 1st quarter perfect attendance will earn a celebration in the first part of the 2nd quarter.

Cell phones, CD, I pods and toys are not allowed on in the building at any time. If you are caught they will be taken, turned into the office, parents notified and will be responsible to pick up said items.

NO WRITING on your skin with pen, marker or permanent marker will be allowed at school at any time. Consequences: ND-PM detentions.

The gym will be open all three lunch shifts today.

All students are responsible for their own items. MAKE SURE TO SECURE ALL ITEMS AT ALL TIMES!

BELTS: We have belts for sale in the main office. The cost is $2.00; see Ms. Mary before school to purchase a belt. Belt MUST BE a solid color only!

Shirts need to be tucked in at all times! This includes lunch. When you leave the building at the end of the day, you may untuck as you wish. NO SAGGING!

Uniform guidelines are in effect: teachers if a student is out uniform- have them remain seated and call for an escort as soon as announcements are over.
