Good morning Grant Middle School, today is Wednesday, October 9th 2019


 

The Halloween is the last Friday after Halloween on Nov. 1st — To be eligible students must have all passing grades through 10/29 and 1st qtr. 4 or fewer referrals in October with no assigned In-House: No Unexcused absences for October.

 

October is Breast Cancer awareness month. To help support fighters and survivors, the Beta kids are making chemo care bags for current patients and are raising money to donate to Breast Cancer Research. The Beta club is also selling Breast Cancer Awareness shirts. Buy one in the lobby at lunch for $10. If you buy a new breast cancer awareness shirt, you can wear jeans every Friday during the month of October to help support Breast Cancer survivors and fighters.


 

Cross Country City results form Monday —7th grader Kyis Kinnel and  6th grader Khorbin Gregory were in the top 10 both finishing in 6th place congratulations   — 8th grader Abby Edwards medaled as a top 20 finisher in 18th place —8th grader Lily Smith finished in the top 30 congratulations runners  — cross country is a difficult sport and takes dedication and perseverance as you run in all conditions thank you for representing Grant and all the hard work !

 


There will be an optional scholastic bowl practice room 203 after school Thursday. Anyone interested in Scholastic Bowl may attend

 

POTG will meet Friday after school bring art supplies and a snack


 

 Board game will meet on 10/22 & 10/29 after school per Mrs. Hayes


Drop Everything & Read — Make sure you have a book to read with you every period — today 2nd period . & Thu 5th period— Read something YOU like!!!! 

 

(Learning lab is Thu. this week after school— make sure you have a signed Learning Lab pass & work to do. All students must be signed in by 2:40 — Know what activity bus you need to ride — we only have 3 buses to choose from - bus stop sheets can be found in bookshelf in main lobby .

 

Reminder students school starts at 8:00 every day — the building opens for breakfast at 7:30 — Here at Grant we are" On Time and Ready to Learn Every Day! "…. because it matters and so do YOU!

 

Tardy count 8th grade — 7th grade & 6th grade tardies — Being on time & ready to learn is a daily expectation at Grant 

 

 8th graders had 89% attendance Tuesday followed by 7th grade at 90% !!!!!! & 6th grade with 88% — whole building was at 89% - we need you here, it makes a difference .

 

Teacher attendance was 90% Tuesday

 

The following are daily reminders of behavior expectations and Grant rules:

 

Brushes , picks, combs, etc…. hair products are not allowed or too be used in class or hallways — Please keep in locker put away during the day.

 

Grant is a uniform school —advisory teachers please check students for uniform violations at this time please send to 121 A for corrections


 

Students the expectation in the hallway is to use appropriate language at all times— We are at school, be mindful of the language and respectful if corrected.

 

 Students Cell phones are not allowed to be on you during the school day , they MUST be turned off and concealed . Cell phones that are taken are subject consequences and parent pick up in order to return  

 

 Students this is  “our “ school, please show respect to building and grounds, by using trash cans and doing your part to keep Grant looking it’s best. Remember to be respectful of others property to and home from school. 

 

 The expectation at Grant is to keep your hands and feet to yourselves, at all times during the school day and on the way to and home from school— This means no “Play Fighting “

 

 Students for your safety please only cross at the designated crosswalk areas locate at Chatham Road / Stange & Amos
