Recess Before Lunch - Improving Our School

This fall, Harvard Park will institute a Recess Before Lunch program. Instead of the traditional process of students rushing through their food to get outside for recess, students will have their play time first and then have plenty of time to eat their whole meal before going back to class.

Schools with this type of program report that behavior referrals significantly decrease, academic time increases, and students eat more of their lunch, including fruits and vegetables.

** Starting this program also means needing more volunteers at lunchtime — we need you! Please contact the school in August if you are interested in helping out at any time between 11:00a - 1:00p.
