Dear Harvard Park Community Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my excitement about my appointment as the assistant principal at Harvard Park Elementary School. I am very fortunate to join a school culture focused on student learning and committed to high expectations for every learner. As part of the instructional leadership team it is my intent to continue to carry out these important traditions and practices. I would like to extend an invitation that we continue as partners in your child’s education and invite you attend our monthly parent meetings, parent conferences and other academic events.

In addition to my seven years of classroom instruction ranging from grades two through twelve in alternative and regular education classrooms, I have an extensive background in numerous academic and behavioral programs. I have four years of Assistant Principal/Dean of Student experience, at both primary and secondary levels, as well as extensive leadership experience in BIST (Behavior Intervention Supports Team), PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports), AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), Safe Schools Alternative Education Program, and community learning programs.

I welcome hard work, tough challenges, and opportunities to assist in promoting self-worth, social responsibility, and life long learning in partnership with the HP community. I look forward to using my enthusiasm, leadership, and diverse nature of my experience to make a positive contribution to my new home.

I look forward to a wonderful school year and working together with each of you. Please feel free to call, email or stop by and visit. My email address is jhayes@sps186.org, if you ever have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

James L. Hayes
Assistant Principal
