Jefferson Middle School AVID students attended an assembly to listen to the Southeast High School students talk about the advantages of being in National Honor Society and how AVID has helped them achieve their academic goals.
Jefferson Middle School's AVID students were able to ask questions concerning the college application process, getting good grades, balancing a tough personal schedule with school, and setting future goals. AVID students at Jefferson Middle School took Cornell Notes and discussed what they learned from the experience. One student summarized the experience by stating, “as an 8th grade student, I now see how important it is for me to keep my grades up and work hard.” Another student stated, “I didn’t realize that applying to college can be so easy. It can be done.”
A big “THANK YOU” goes out to Mrs. Dye and her AVID National Honor Society students for making AVID relevant for Jefferson’s 6th, 7th, and 8th grade AVID classes.
