TODAY IN HISTORY
On this day in 1942, Henry Ford patented a plastic-bodied automobile. The car was 30% lighter than other cars at that time. Today, most car bodies are still made of metal, however plastic is being used more and more for parts.

SPORTS
6th grade volleyball ~ Practice today from 5-6:30PM. You must leave and come back no earlier that 4:45PM. Enter through the back gym doors. Have a ride waiting at those same doors at 6:30PM.

7th & 8th grade girls' basketball ~ You should turn in your uniforms as soon as possible. Fines will be issued for missing uniforms.

7th & 8th grade girls' volleyball ~ Congratulations 8th grade girls for their strong victory over GMS!
Top Server - Jordyn S. with 5 aces
Top Assists - Ally N. & Jordyn S. with 7 assists each
Top Spiker - Megan G. with 7 kills

7th grade lead server was Charlicia W. with 5 aces; lead setter was Alyssa M. with 3 assists; & lead spiker was Abby B. with 4 kills.

JSO
Come join us today for the first JSO meeting of the new year! We are going to be planning our newest project so come and join us after school in Mrs. Huffman's room — room 113.

SKATING PARTY
Our January skating party will be held Thursday night at Skateland South from 6-8PM. This is for JMS students and their families only! It will cost $4 for admission and $2 for skate rental.

CRAZY HAIR DAY
The winners of the Crazy Hair Day Contest are:
Ms. Joost's 3rd block with 12 participants
Ms. Nicholas' 3rd block with 13 participants
Mrs. Foley's 3rd block with 11 participants
Each of these classes will receive a box of Hot Tamales to eat during class today!

The breakdown by grade level was as follows:
6th grade ~ 58 participants
7th grade ~ 32 participants
8th grade ~ 59 participants
All 8th grade students will receive popcorn and pickle poppers during lunch on Thursday!

TWILIGHT BOWLING FOR TECHNOLOGY
It's that time again — it's time for Twilight Bowling for Technology!

WHO: All JMS Students
WHEN: Sunday, January 17th
TIME: 9-11PM
WHERE: Laketown Lanes
Cost: $15 for 2 hours of bowling and your shoe rental

You must pay your $15 even if you don't bowl. This is a rule of the bowling alley.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH LUNCH
Friday will be our Student of the Month lunch.

MOVED?
If you have moved recently, please give the office the new information. We need your current address and phone contact information.

GUEST TEACHERS
At JMS, adults are in charge. When you have a guest teacher, you are expected to be respectful and helpful. Disrespect will not be tolerated.

SCHOOL STORE
The JMS School Store is open! Come to the main lobby before school and purchase school supplies.

SNACK ATTACK STORE
The Snack Attack Store is in the main lobby for after school before you board the buses. Each snack costs $1.

HALLWAY SWEEPS
In order to cut down on the number of students arriving tardy to class, we will continue having hallway sweeps this week. Once the tardy bell has rung, if you are not in class, you will be swept and consequences will be issued.

We will be doing hallway sweeps after school! If you are not being supervised by an adult, you will be in an all day buddy room.

YEARBOOKS
Last year's yearbooks are available for the low price of $10! See Ms. J-C in room 115.

DRESS CODE
Just a reminder ~ You may not wear a long-sleeved shirt under your short-sleeved uniform shirt. Girls ~ You may not tie your shirt in the back!
