TODAY IN HISTORY
On this day in 1785, the first Spanish donkeys were imported from Spain. They were a gift from King Charles III. George Washington bred them resulting in the first donkeys to be born in America.
12:27PM bell is the 7th grade tardy bell.
12:30PM bell is the dismissal bell for 8th grade to go to lunch. Please do not dismiss your students before this bell rings.
7th & 8th grade students are not allowed in the 6th grade hallway unless their locker is in that hall, if they have Info Tech in room 116, or SSRW in a classroom in that hall. There will be consequences issued for ignoring this rule.

On Mondays and Fridays we will sell a la carte at the registers. A la carte will be in the back of the cafeteria on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday.
Please remember to clean up your eating area and push in your chair at your table. You will be asked to choose an outside activity. Do not go past the sidewalks. Once you reenter the building, use your inside voices because other students are in class.
Today will be an outside day unless we announce otherwise! Take your jackets with you to the cafeteria. You will not be allowed to go back to your locker after you eat before you go outside.
IMSA will meet today after school in room 206.
ATTENDANCE REWARD DANCE
Today will be a celebration day! All students with a 93% or better attendance rate will be rewarded with a dance from 1:30-2:30PM. Great job!
The 7th grade is selling Pumpkin Pencils for your Pumpkin! You may see Mrs. Winters right before or after school in room 206 to purchase a Pumpkin Pencil for 50¢. You must know the person's first and last name or their 4th hour class so that they can be delivered to the correct person. You will fill out a slip of paper with the person's name and 4th hour classroom. You may also write them a message in the space provided. The Pumpkins will be delivered on October 29th during 4th hour.

• 6th grade girls basketball ~ Practice today after school until 4PM.
• 6th grade boys basketball ~ Practice tomorrow after school 4-5PM.
All show choir members who are performing at Barnes & Noble need to stop by room 122 and pick up a reminder outside the door before you leave today!
Our book fair will be held all this week. You will be given time to browse and make purchases. English teachers can bring students each block with gender girls at the top of the block, coed in the middle of the block and gender boys at the bottom of the block. If there is a group viewing when you arrive, wait your turn or quietly blend.

YEARBOOK CLUB FUNDRAISER
Please support the yearbook club by attending the Burger King Benefit on Wednesday, October 28th from 5-8PM. If you have questions or need more information, see Ms. J-C in room 115.
DONUTS WITH DAD
6th grade Donuts with Dad will be held Thursday, November 5th at 8:15AM. Please RSVP as soon as possible. Return the bottom portion of the flyer to Ms. Austin in room 110.
Any 7th or 8th grade student interested in singing, dancing, acting, directing, etc. should come check out the JMS A La Drama Glee Club!

It has been brought to our attention that it is a safety issue having students sitting on the closed bleachers in the gym. Please DO NOT sit on the closed bleachers. If you are not involved in an activity in the gym and need to sit down, you will have to sit on the floor — not on the bleachers or the stage.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held this week — October 29th & 30th — on Thursday evening from 5-8PM and all day Friday.
At JMS, adults are in charge. When you have a guest teacher, you are expected to be respectful and helpful. Disrespect will not be tolerated.
TWILIGHT BOWLING FOR TECHNOLOGY

The JMS School Store is open! Come to the main lobby before school and purchase school supplies.
SNACK ATTACK STORE
The Snack Attack Store is in the main lobby for after school before you board the buses. Each snack will cost $1.
In order to cut down on the number of students arriving tardy to class, we will continue having hallway sweeps this week. Once the tardy bell has rung, if you are not in class, you will be swept and consequences will be issued.
Just a reminder ~ Shorts or capris are no longer allowed as uniform choices until next spring. Also, you may not wear a long-sleeved shirt under your short-sleeved uniform shirt. Girls ~ You may not tie your shirt in the back!
You will no longer be allowed to wear colored plastic wrist bracelets at JMS. The colors of the bracelets carry meanings that are not acceptable for our school environment. Consequences will be issued to those who continue to wear the bracelets.
• Be sure to turn in your PRIDE cards soon! There are two Out of the Blue activities scheduled for October and two scheduled for November.
RED RIBBON WEEK
Today is the first day of Red Ribbon Week! Everyone will receive a bracelet to help promote a drug-free life.
Tomorrow is "Be a Roll Model" day. You will be able to guess how many Tootsie Rolls are in the jar for 25¢ a guess. The winner will receive the entire jar of candy!
