Our mission is to produce world-class citizens.
1. Good attendance of at least 91%.
2. Good education - grades of A/B or doing your very best; you will be prepared for tests, the next year, and for life!
3. Good behavior - Respect yourself. • Respect others. • Respect property.
It is never ok to be disruptive. It is never ok to be hurtful.
NO GUM IS ALLOWED AT SCHOOL!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ....
TODAY IN HISTORY
On this day in 1996, the Nintendo 64 video game system hit the stores in the United States. Over 500,000 Nintendo systems were sold on that first day. It was a huge success!
12:27PM bell is the 7th grade tardy bell.
12:30PM bell is the dismissal bell for 8th grade to go to lunch. Please do not dismiss your students before this bell rings.
Main Entree: Chicken Strips; Cheesy Mashed Potatoes; Green Beans; Yogurt Lunchables. A la Carte will be open!
Tomorrow's Breakfast: Hashbrowns with Omelets
Please remember to clean up your eating area and push in your chair at your table. You will be asked to choose an outside activity. Do not go past the sidewalks. Once you reenter the building, use your inside voices because other students are in class.
At JMS, adults are in charge. When you have a guest teacher, you are expected to be respectful and helpful. Disrespect will not be tolerated.
STUDENT OF THE MONTH LUNCH
The Student of the Month Lunch will be held on Friday, October 9th during regular lunch shifts.
• 6th Grade Boys Basketball ~ Tryouts will be Friday right after school until 5PM. Meet in the gym immediately after school and be dressed in your gym clothes. You may not tryout in your school uniform. Be picked up promptly at 5PM or you may ride the activity bus.
• Cheerleading ~ Please remember to pick up a flyer outside room 123 about the team meeting this Wednesday evening!
The Hip-Hop Dance Team will begin today after school. Practices will be held at Knox Church. Report to room 110 by 2:45PM so we can walk over together. Come dressed in clothes that you can move in — NO jeans or flip-flops. You cannot practice if you do not have a contract on file.
Congratulations to the new members of the JMS Show Choir! Practices will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30-4PM in room 122. If you know someone who should join, it's not too late! See Ms. Harrison in room 122.
• All 6th grade students need to have a physical in order to remain in school.
JMS SPIRIT CHALLENGE
The 8th grade is challenging all 7th & 6th grade students to a "Who Has More Spirit" day!
On Thursday, the grade level that comes to school with the highest percentage of yellow Jaguar t-shirts will be rewarded with an extra 10 minutes recess at lunch on Friday.
Shirts will be sold for $12 each at lunch or see Ms. Stewart in room 202.
The JMS School Store is open! Come to the main lobby before school and purchase school supplies.
SNACK ATTACK STORE
The Snack Attack Store is in the main lobby for after school before you board the buses. Each snack will cost $1.
We want students to be here every day! JMS needs to have at least 92% attendance everyday. We will have fun activities for those who attain a 95% attendance rate. Currently we have 187 students with perfect attendance — 71 6th, 74 7th, & 42 8th! Keep up the good attendance!
Previous Day's Attendance Report
6th Grade ~ 26 absent - 187 present - 88%
7th Grade ~ 23 absent - 151 present - 87%
8th Grade ~ 32 absent - 150 present - 82%
In order to cut down on the number of students arriving tardy to class, we will begin having hallway sweeps this week. Once the tardy bell has rung, if you are not in class, you will be swept and consequences will be issued.
Fall picture day is Thursday, October 8th. Students ~ You must wear your school uniform!
If you would like to purchase a yearbook from the 2008-2009 school year, see Ms. J-C in room 115. Bargain cost of $15!
Also, the Yearbook Club would like to thank everyone who came out to Burger King last Thursday and supported JMS!
Just a reminder ~ After Wednesday, September 30th you will not be allowed to wear shorts or capris. Also, you may not wear a long-sleeved shirt under your short-sleeved uniform shirt.
Remember our school expectations:
Respect Yourself • Respect Others • Respect Property
