HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ....
Ashley B.!

TODAY IN HISTORY
On this day in 1838, Frederick Douglass boarded a train in Maryland, a slave state. He was dressed as a sailor and had borrowed ID papers. He rode the train to Delaware and then caught a steamboat to Philadelphia, which was a free city. He then went on to the free city of New York City. Douglass became one of the nation's strongest abolitionists and one of the greatest orators of his time. He fought tirelessly in the struggle against slavery.
