TODAY IN HISTORY
On this day in 1965, astronaut John Young became the first man to eat a corned beef sandwich in outer space. He smuggled the sandwich on board because he wanted to have something else to eat besides the dehydrated foods that were provided for an astronaut's regular meal.

CAFETERIA

Please pay your charges. Letters & phone calls home will begin this week.

You must eat or drink all food before you leave the cafeteria. Nothing is allowed outside! Clean up after yourself in the cafeteria.


SPORTS
Track ~ Track practice this week will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Monday and Thursday will be until 4PM. Tuesday's practice will be until 5PM. There will be an activity bus to take you home. Be dressed and ready to go in the gym at 2:45PM.

CEILING TILES
Those students who are jumping up and hitting the ceiling tiles should stop immediately. You are breaking the tiles. If you are seen breaking tiles, you will have to pay for the damages.

DRESS CODE reminder ~ Shorts and capris may not be worn until May! Also, skinny black jeans are not acceptable. No denim is allowed.

You may not wear long-sleeved shirts under your uniform polo. Sagging pants will not be tolerated!

Those students who won ISAT t-shirts may wear them through the month of March. If you purchase an 8th grade t-shirt, you may wear it through the end of the school year on Friday's only. If you decorate your 8th grade t-shirt or have others sign your shirt, you will NOT be allowed to wear it.

In addition, sweatshirts may not be worn half-on, half-off. If you choose to wear a sweatshirt, you must have it on all the way.

Nose piercings are not allowed in District 186 schools. You may not wear a nose ring, a clear spacer, or a bar, or wear a band-aid to cover the piercing. If you refuse to remove the nose ring, you will be written up, sent to the office and sent home.

SCIENCE FAIR REGIONALS
This past Saturday, six JMS students competed at the Regional Science Fair. The students did an excellent job with their presentations to the judges. Kyle H. and Kendra P. received 2nd place ribbons; and William S., Jazmin W., Phillip M., and Saaj S. received 1st place ribbons. Saaj will represent JMS at the State Science Fair in May. Thank you for all of your hard work. Congratulations!

SPIRIT WEAR
Spirit Wear order forms have been sent home for parents to order JMS shirts. This clothing is NOT to be worn to school.

FANNIE MAY FUNDRAISER
The Fannie May Candy fundraiser will conclude tomorrow. All orders and money should be turned in by the end of the day Tuesday.

8TH GRADE T-SHIRTS
All 8th grade students interested in ordering an 8th grade t-shirt should get their money to Ms. Stewart as soon as possible. The different sizes of t-shirts are on display in the main lobby.

END OF THE YEAR TRIPS
Please remember ~ there are requirements for you to be eligible for the end of the year trips to Six Flags or Knight's Action Park.

Requirements:
1. GRADES: passing all classes for 4th quarter
2. ATTENDANCE: 90% attendance for the school year
3. BEHAVIOR: no suspensions during 4th quarter

HALLWAY SWEEPS
Hallway sweeps will continue. Be sure to get to class on time and be in your seat before the tardy bell rings.

PBIS/BIST NEWS
• Keep earning those PRIDE cards and turning them in so you will be eligible for the next Out of the Blue activity!

• Today is YOGA day. Your passes will be delivered to you this morning. Remember to come to the library before lunch.

GUEST TEACHERS
Whenever you have a guest teacher, you are to show him/her the same respect as you would your regular teacher. The guest teacher knows the BIST procedures. If you are asked to go to the Safe Seat, you must move to the Safe Seat. If you must be removed from the classroom, you will be escorted to room 109 and issued two after-school detentions.
