Respect yourself. • Respect others. • Respect property.
It is never ok to be disruptive. It is never ok to be hurtful.
NO GUM IS ALLOWED AT SCHOOL!
TODAY IN HISTORY
On this day in 1493, Italian explorer Christopher Columbus saw three mermaids in the ocean near the Dominican Republic. Columbus described them as "not half as beautiful as they are painted." Actually, they weren't mermaids. They were manatees.

When we have outside days during the winter months, please leave the snow and ice on the ground. If you choose to throw snow, you will receive an after-school detention. Leave the snow on the ground!
When we have an inside lunch day, you must be quiet in the halls. Please be respectful and considerate of those who are in class at that time.
COATS & DOORS
All coats, gloves and hats must be removed upon entering the building and must be stored in your locker. You may go to your locker before school, before and after lunch, and after school.
You must enter the building through the proper door. 6th grade students enter through the cafeteria doors. 7th grade students enter through the main lobby doors. 8th grade students enter through the gym lobby doors. Please follow the proper procedure!
BUS STOP SAFETY
Please be very careful when waiting for your bus at your bus stop. Do not stand in the street. For your safety, stand only on the sidewalk.
Hallway sweeps will continue. Be sure to get to class on time and be in your seat before the tardy bell rings.
PROCEDURE FOR AFTER-SCHOOL DETENTIONS
Students serving after-school detentions should go directly to detention. You should be there by 2:35PM or you will be considered tardy. You may not go outside and come back in. You may not go to the vending machines before detention. No congregating in the halls!
It is very important that you come to school everyday! Come to school and be prepared to learn each and every day of the school year. We need to maintain at least a 90% attendance rate for meeting AYP.
Next week is Respect Week at JMS! Teachers will be re-teaching our school-wide PBIS & BIST expectations and procedures.
Whenever you have a guest teacher, you are to show him/her the same respect as you would your regular teacher. The guest teacher knows the BIST procedures. If you are asked to go to the Safe Seat, you must move to the Safe Seat. If you must be removed from the classroom, you will be escorted to room 109 and issued two after-school detentions.
Remember our school expectations:
Respect Yourself • Respect Others • Respect Property
Student behavior has become a concern. Our expectation is for you to respect yourself, others and property. Respecting yourself means using your inside voices in the school, no loud talking, no loud laughing, etc. Respecting others means walking on the right side of the halls, no running through the halls, no pushing and shoving, etc. Respecting property is not throwing papers on the floor, keeping your lockers orderly, and taking care of your textbooks.
