Please remember to take a jacket with you to lunch. It is getting cold outside and you are not allowed to go back to your locker after you eat.
You must eat or drink all snacks before you leave the cafeteria. Nothing is allowed outside! Clean up after yourself in the cafeteria.
Students ~ You must sit on the correct side of the cafeteria. Lunch detentions will be given if you are on the wrong side!
Cheerleaders will have practice today after school. Meet in room 102.
Picture retakes will be Thursday, November 13th.
Yearbooks are on sale. The cost is $23. Bring a check made payable to Jefferson Middle School or cash to Mr. Battles in the main office to place your order.
Our first garage sale is scheduled for Saturday, November 1st from 8AM-1PM. Please ask your parents to donate working small appliances and gently used items such as books or clothes. This is a good time to come and shop for reduced price items. Parents can also rent a space with a table for $25.
RED RIBBON WEEK
Red Ribbon Week at JMS is this week. Today is Hooked on Books, Not Drugs day. Mrs. Rennison will be handing out bookmarks with the drug-free message to all students.
This week is the kick-off for our Schwan's Fundraiser! Schwan's will donate a percentage of the sales to JMS. The money raised will be used for technology needs such as digital video and still cameras for the classrooms, VCR/DVD players, and toner for our color printers.
Order forms and catalogs will be going home this week and will also be available at Parent-Teacher Conferences Thursday and Friday. Orders will be accepted through Monday, November 10th. Delivery will be Thursday, November 13th. Customers will pay the Schwan's representative for their purchases at the time of pick-up at Jefferson.
If your parents, grandparents, other family members, and neighbors already order from Schwan's, encourage them to consider supporting Jefferson by placing an advance order with you!
LAPTOPS & PASSING PERIODS
7th & 8th grade students ~ you may only get your laptop from your assigned cart during passing periods. If you are late coming to school or tardy for class, you must wait until the next passing period to get your laptop. You may not interrupt a teacher's class after the tardy bell has rung.
AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION
Change Makes a Difference!
JMS will participate with Change Makes a Difference to raise money for the American Lung Association during the week of November 3-7. Funds will be supporting children from Central Illinois to attend Asthma Adventure Camp next summer. Please help to support the fight against lung disease by bringing in change!

Our Fall Dance is scheduled for November 7th from 6-8PM.
DONUTS WITH DAD
Donuts with Dad for 6th grade students will be November 6th.
• Students ~ you should drop off your PE clothes in the locker room at 7:50 AM when you enter the building.
• Students who have PE 4th block need to put their uniforms back on at the end of class. You may not leave the gym for dismissal in your gym clothes.
• Students are not allowed on the stage! The expensive stage curtains are being damaged. Stay off the stage at all times!
It is very important that you come to school everyday! Come to school and be prepared to learn each and every day of the school year. We need to maintain at least a 90% attendance rate for meeting AYP.

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday from 5-8PM and Friday from 8AM-2:30PM.
The Scholastic Book Fair will continue all week in our library. Everyone will get an opportunity to browse and purchase items. Parents attending the laptop meeting and parent conferences will have an opportunity to browse and make purchases.
No passes should be issued during class time! If students are found in the hallway, they will be escorted back to your room.
Don't forget to turn in your PRIDE cards for prizes!
Whenever you have a guest teacher, you are to show him/her the same respect as you would your regular teacher. The guest teacher knows the BIST procedures. If you are asked to go to the Safe Seat, you must move to the Safe Seat. If you must be removed from the classroom, you will be escorted to room 109 and issued two after-school detentions.
