Every Wednesday, we will have the following inside activities:
• Reading Room in the library
• Game Room for educational board games
• Educational TV programming in the cafeteria
Outside activities every day will include:
• Walk 'n Talk
• Playing on the playground equipment
Everyone will be expected to actively participate in one of these activities.
Teal & aqua are not acceptable uniform shirt colors.
You may NOT wear shirts or sweatshirts with signatures all over them.
Earbuds/headphones must be out of your ears before you enter the building. If you do not, a staff member may take them from you and place them in the main office tagged with your name for pick up later.
Gentlemen ~ Please NO sagging of pants or shorts! If you have belt loops on your shorts or pants, you must wear a belt.
Walkers must arrive at school by 7:45AM in order to eat breakfast & have full choices of items available.
7th & 8th graders must use their assigned stairs — do not use the 6th grade hall as a shortcut!
Nooks & Kindles may NOT be brought to school.
Keep your hands to yourselves!
Restroom passes must remain in your planner. Any restroom pass sheet that is torn out of a planner will NOT be valid. You may NOT use someone else's restroom passes. If you do, you will receive inhouse as a consequence.
Please remember to be quiet in the halls especially during lunch shifts in the 6th grade hall.
Please be sure to check the "Jaguar News" bulletin board in the main lobby for important information.
Please remember to get to class on time. In the mornings, you should not be going into other classrooms to visit with your friends. Come in, go to your locker, get your supplies, go directly to your class!
Please do not share your combination with a friend. If you are having trouble opening your locker, ask an adult for help. Also, do not leave your locker "set" to open. Do NOT share your locker with anyone. If you do, you will receive inhouse as a consequence.
Gum is not allowed at JMS!
No food is allowed on buses. You may have a water bottle.
You may NOT use the hall passes that are in your planner — X them out. You may only use the restroom passes.
Binders & textbooks should NOT be left in the halls or on tables in the halls. These are your responsibility. You must put them in your locker when you are not carrying them to class!
Binders must be carried to ALL classes including your electives. If you need a replacement binder, see your guidance dean.
Behavior on our activity buses needs to improve! If you cannot behave on the activity bus, you will not be allowed to ride. Your parent/guardian will have to come pick you up after your after-school activities.

• Brain Busters
Brain Busters will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in the library. Don't forget!
Attention 6th grade students:
The WEB leaders would like to invite you to attend a winter project time on either Monday or Tuesday next week at 2:55PM in room 214. Please make arrangements with a parent or guardian to either ride the activity bus or be picked up by 4PM. Attendance is not necessary to participate. More information will be available in your science class on Monday about the project.
If you are interested in the AVID program where we:
1. Have college as a goal
2. Are motivated to succeed in school
3. Want a place to belong
4. Want to discover our talents and gifts
You can apply to the AVID program this week by picking up an application from Mrs. Lott in the guidance office or Ms. Petty in room 222. Applications will be taken until Monday, December 15th. You are encouraged to apply soon.

Can you complete the challenge? You only have a Minute to Win It!
When: Friday, December 19th from 12:30-1:30PM
We will have our Student vs Staff Battle!
In order to attend students must meet the following criteria:
NO major referrals
NO more than 2 Buddy Rooms
CANNOT have a Buddy Room, Referral or In-house that day.
Students will pay $1 to attend. 7th hour teachers will collect the money that day.
If you are interested in purchasing the 2014-15 yearbook, you can order one now for just $20. You can also purchase them online with a credit or debit card. See Ms. Goss-Rodgers in room 103 or Ms. Sponsler in room 219 for an order form. There are order forms available in the Jaguar News in the main lobby also.
• Yearbook Staff Meeting
Staff meeting after school on Monday. We will be assigning pages for you to edit. If you aren't in attendance, you will NOT be assigned pages to edit. We only have 7 meetings left before our deadline.
• Book Challenge
Join the JMS Book Challenge! Read at least 4 books before the December 15th deadline. Fill out your book challenge reading log and return it to Mrs. Groesch in the library.
• Box Tops 4 Education
We will be collecting Box Tops again this year! Please turn them in to your 1st hour teacher. Classes that collect the most have an opportunity to earn prizes.
Please remember to follow all school rules & to show proper sportsmanship when attending a school sporting event. If you are removed from an event, whether at JMS or another school, you may be banned from attending any future extra-curricular events for the remainder of the school year.

Date: Saturday, December 13th
Where: Springfield High School Gym @ 101 S. Lewis Street
Time: 12:30-3:30PM ~ Check in begins at 12PM.

• Harlem Globetrotters
The Harlem Globetrotters will be in Springfield for a performance on Wednesday, January 7th at 7PM at the Prairie Capital Convention Center. For more information, contact the PCCC box office.
