Every Wednesday, we will have the following inside activities:
• Reading Room in the library
• Game Room for educational board games
• Educational TV programming in the cafeteria
Outside activities every day will include:
• Walk 'n Talk
• Playing on the playground equipment
Everyone will be expected to actively participate in one of these activities.
If you have a change of address or phone number, please notify Mrs. Frye in the Guidance Office.
Teal & aqua are not acceptable uniform shirt colors.
You may NOT wear shirts or sweatshirts with signatures all over them.
You may NOT tuck your pant legs into your socks.
Earbuds/headphones must be out of your ears before you enter the building. If you do not, a staff member may take them from you and place them in the main office tagged with your name for pick up later.
Gentlemen ~ Please NO sagging of pants or shorts! If you have belt loops on your shorts or pants, you must wear a belt.
Walkers must arrive at school by 7:45AM in order to eat breakfast & have full choices of items available.
7th & 8th graders must use their assigned stairs — do not use the 6th grade hall as a shortcut!
Nooks & Kindles may NOT be brought to school.
Keep your hands to yourselves!
Restroom passes must remain in your planner. Any restroom pass sheet that is torn out of a planner will NOT be valid. You may NOT use someone else's restroom passes. If you do, you will receive inhouse as a consequence.
Please remember to be quiet in the halls especially during lunch shifts in the 6th grade hall.
Please be sure to check the "Jaguar News" bulletin board in the main lobby for important information.
Please remember to get to class on time. In the mornings, you should not be going into other classrooms to visit with your friends. Come in, go to your locker, get your supplies, go directly to your class!
Please do not share your combination with a friend. If you are having trouble opening your locker, ask an adult for help. Also, do not leave your locker "set" to open. Do NOT share your locker with anyone. If you do, you will receive inhouse as a consequence.
Gum is not allowed at JMS!
No food is allowed on buses. You may have a water bottle.
You may NOT use the hall passes that are in your planner — X them out. You may only use the restroom passes.
Binders & textbooks should NOT be left in the halls or on tables in the halls. These are your responsibility. You must put them in your locker when you are not carrying them to class!
Binders must be carried to ALL classes including your electives. If you need a replacement binder, see your guidance dean.
Behavior on our activity buses needs to improve! If you cannot behave on the activity bus, you will not be allowed to ride. Your parent/guardian will have to come pick you up after your after-school activities.
CELL PHONE POLICY
Effective Tuesday, January 20th, students cannot be in possession of cell phones during school hours. All cell phones must be kept in lockers. If a locker is damaged and will not lock, please notify the administration.
• PE Clothes
Please take all PE clothes to the locker room before school starts in the morning. If you have any questions, see Mr. Knox or Mr. Tyler.
• Brain Boosters
Brain Boosters will meet after school on Tuesdays & Thursdays in the library.
The deadline for ordering yearbooks is Friday, March 20th. That is the LAST day to order and be guaranteed you will get a yearbook. You should receive a new order form this week with your name on it. If you have any questions, see Ms. Sponsler in room 219.
• Show Choir
The next show choir practice will be Tuesday, March 17th from 2:30-4PM in room 122. New schedules and permission slips will be given, so all members need to attend.
• PSP Sign Club
The next meeting is today at 2:40PM in room 121. If you do not have an application turned in, you cannot attend!
• Box Tops 4 Education
For the rest of this school year, there will be a drawing once a month for a free lunch with a friend. How do you get entered into this raffle, you ask? All you have to do is fill out your "dollar" form with 10 unexpired box tops. For every dollar of box top labels that is turned in, you will receive an entry into the free lunch raffle. Fill in 2 of the "dollar" forms and you receive 2 entries. Turn in 5 "dollar" forms you get 5 entries into the raffle. You can get a "dollar" form from your teacher, or there will be extras in Jaguar News. Make sure you put your first and last name and your first hour teacher's name on the form.
• 21st Century
The 21st Century after-school program is slated to begin today. Applications and cover letters can be found in the Jaguar News, Guidance Office, and with your 1st hour teacher. Completed applications can be turned in to your 1st hour teacher or to Mrs. Walton. This is a free program.
• Camp Generations
Who: Boys & girls, age 7-14 years old. Please call in advance if you are interested in registering a student younger than 7. The cost is $35/camper.
When: March 17-19 from 6-8PM with drop-off beginning at 5:30PM
Where: Southeast High School, 2350 E. Ash St. [217-525-3130, ext. 161]
What: You will be amazed by what your student can accomplish in just three days. Members of the Southeast High School Sensations show choir spend three days preparing selections for a performance at the Capital City Sound Explosion held at Southeast High School at 12:30PM on March 21st. The camp is designed to instill confidence in students, provide solo opportunities, and generate an excitement for the arts in each participant. A light dinner will also be provided each night. [Please let us know if your child has any allergies.]
The show will feature a 15-20 minute medley of fun songs from the newly released version of "Annie." Each camper receives a practice C, two admission wristbands for the Sound Explosion, a t-shirt, and a certificate of participation. Additional wristbands will be sold for $5.00 each. Videotaping will be allowed, however professionally edited videos will also be available for purchase. This is great opportunity for any kid who loves to sing around the house or for those seriously pursuing youth theater or show choir opportunities. Our #1 priority is FUN and through that you will witness a wonderfully inspiring student performance.

Please remember to follow all school rules & to show proper sportsmanship when attending a school sporting event. If you are removed from an event, whether at JMS or another school, you may be banned from attending any future extra-curricular events for the remainder of the school year.
