• OUTSIDE DAY FOR LUNCH BREAK •

Remember ~ your day is what you make it. Let's make it a good one!

WELLNESS WAKEUP CALL
A nori roll is a Japanese sandwich that is easy to eat and very tasty. Specially prepared rice that sticks together is rolled together with strips of tofu and vegetables such as carrot, avocado, radish, and wrapped up with a thin sheet of dried nori, which is a vegetable from the ocean. Sometimes this is also called sushi. Most people think of sushi as raw fish, but actually sushi means vinegared rice. Sushi can be made with short grain brown rice and vegetables, and have no fish at all.

A favorite sandwich from the Middle East and Israel is the falafel. Tasty, little patties made from fava beans or chickpeas, chopped vegetables such as lettuce, and sauces made from sesame seeds or tomatoes are placed in a pita bread pocket. Usually falafels are deep fried, which is not healthy, but falafels can be baked and are just as delicious. Falafels give us protein, B vitamins, and iron.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Pasta for Pennies
Today our school joins almost 29,000 schools nationwide in the LLS Pasta for Pennies program. This week, we will help patients with blood cancers. All you have to do is collect coins or dollars and give them to your first hour teacher. Remember that every penny counts! Last year we raised almost $700. I want to challenge you to beat that amount for this year.

You also have the opportunity to purchase candy grams for a friend or that special someone. They will be sold for $1 at the beginning of each lunch shift this week. The money you spend on the candy grams will count toward your first hour class's total. The candy grams will be delivered to 8th hour classes on Friday, Feb. 12th, just in time for Valentine's day!

The class that turns in the most money per student will receive lunch catered from the Olive Garden! 2nd place will receive donuts from Mrs. Beebe.

Thanks in advance for making this campaign successful!
