Do NOT dig through the lunch trays. Take the tray on top of the stack. All trays are clean but may be scuffed on the bottom. If you happen to find a tray that has something on the top side, please let an adult know. When you dig through trays, you are spreading germs. Consequences for not following directions: You will eat last!
Every Wednesday, we will have the following inside activities:
• Reading Room in the library
• Game Room for educational board games
• Educational TV programming in the cafeteria
Outside activities every day will include:
• Walk 'n Talk
• Playing on the playground equipment
Everyone will be expected to actively participate in one of these activities.
Teal & aqua are not acceptable uniform shirt colors.
You may NOT wear shirts or sweatshirts with signatures all over them.
Earbuds/headphones must be out of your ears before you enter the building. If you do not, a staff member may take them from you and place them in the main office tagged with your name for pick up later.
Gentlemen ~ Please NO sagging of pants or shorts! If you have belt loops on your shorts or pants, you must wear a belt.
Walkers must arrive at school by 7:45AM in order to eat breakfast & have full choices of items available.
7th & 8th graders must use their assigned stairs — do not use the 6th grade hall as a shortcut!
Nooks & Kindles may NOT be brought to school.
Keep your hands to yourselves!
Restroom passes must remain in your planner. Any restroom pass sheet that is torn out of a planner will NOT be valid. You may NOT use someone else's restroom passes. If you do, you will receive inhouse as a consequence.
Please remember to be quiet in the halls especially during lunch shifts in the 6th grade hall.
Please be sure to check the "Jaguar News" bulletin board in the main lobby for important information.
Please remember to get to class on time. In the mornings, you should not be going into other classrooms to visit with your friends. Come in, go to your locker, get your supplies, go directly to your class!
Please do not share your combination with a friend. If you are having trouble opening your locker, ask an adult for help. Also, do not leave your locker "set" to open. Do NOT share your locker with anyone. If you do, you will receive inhouse as a consequence.
Gum is not allowed at JMS!
No food is allowed on buses. You may have a water bottle.
You may NOT use the hall passes that are in your planner — X them out. You may only use the restroom passes.
Binders & textbooks should NOT be left in the halls or on tables in the halls. These are your responsibility. You must put them in your locker when you are not carrying them to class!
Behavior on our activity buses needs to improve! If you cannot behave on the activity bus, you will not be allowed to ride. Your parent/guardian will have to come pick you up after your after-school activities.
• Show Choir
NO show choir practice today! The next practice will be held next Tuesday, 10/28.
• Scholastic Bowl
The JMS Scholastic Bowl will have an organizational meeting on Monday, 10/27 at 2:30PM in room 213.
Scholastic Bowl is a fun, fast-paced academic competition between schools. In match play, two teams of five players compete to answer the most questions quickly and correctly.
We also have positions for timers and score-keepers for those interested in participating without competing.
This meeting will include a fun practice that will last until 4PM. There will be an activity bus.
• Book Challenge
Join the JMS Book Challenge! Read at least 4 books before the December 15th deadline. Fill out your book challenge reading log and return it to Mrs. Groesch in the library.
• Fundraiser Delivery
Fall fundraiser items are scheduled to be delivered on Friday, 10/24 and Monday, 10/27.
• Student Led Conferences
Student Led Conferences are scheduled for Thursday evening from 5-8PM. All students have been given appointed times. There is no school on Friday to accommodate those conferences that could not be completed on Thursday evening.
• Shirt Orders
Order forms for JMS spirit wear have been sent home. We will be selling short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts. Orders & money are due on October 30th.
• Box Tops 4 Education
We will be collecting Box Tops again this year! Please turn them in to your 1st hour teacher. Classes that collect the most have an opportunity to earn prizes.
• Washington, DC Trip
8th Graders ~ Thursday is the last day to register for the Washington, DC trip! Jaguar News has more information if you missed the meeting. See Mr. Craner in room 220 if you have any questions.
• Miles of Smiles
Miles of Smiles is coming to JMS!
Consent forms were handed out during 1st period today. These need to be returned by Thursday, October 30th. Consents must be turned in to participate & may be turned in to any of your teachers or to Nurse Olivia.
Dates will be determined by how many participants we have. This is a free service.
Please remember to follow all school rules & to show proper sportsmanship when attending a school sporting event. If you are removed from an event, whether at JMS or another school, you may be banned from attending any future extra-curricular events for the remainder of the school year.
• Girls' Basketball
Away games today for 7th & 8th grade girls at WMS at 3:30PM. Team bus will leave JMS at 2:45PM.
Practice today from 2:30-4PM.
Study hall in the art room from 1:30-2:30PM.
• Boys' Basketball
7th grade practice from 4:30-6PM tonight.
8th grade practice from 6-8PM today.
• Boys' Basketball Mandatory Parent Meeting
There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting for parents/guardians of 7th & 8th grade boys' basketball team members. Athletes should attend this meeting with their parents.
