6 days ago PRIDE cards were drawn and students were rewarded! Several students decorated sugar cookies this afternoon. They were allowed to decorate one for themselves and one for a favorite staff member. Happy Valentine's Day!
Feb 10, 2017 On February 7, the AVID classes (142 students) attended the Springfield Public School’s AVID Symposium. The students learned about advocating for themselves in classes. In addition, they discussed their definitions of equity, stereotypes, and prejudice.
Feb 10, 2017 Round 1 of the annual JMS African American Heritage Bowl is complete. Competition will continue on Tuesday, February 14th. The final rounds will be played on Friday, February 24th.
Feb 10, 2017 Middle School Preview Night was a huge success at JMS! Around 75 of our now incoming fifth graders and their families were in attendance. Students and parents were able to meet and speak with 6th grade teachers and all of our administrators.
Feb 9, 2017 Thirty JMS students had the opportunity to attend Sangamon Auditorium's Class Acts performance of "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry." This play is based on the novel by Mildred D. Taylor.

Jan 30, 2017 Friday, January 27th, JMS had their first Father & Daughter Dance and it was “Amazing”. JMS girls attended the dance with their Fathers/Escorts and enjoyed a delicious dinner that was donated by O’Charleys Restaurant.
